Satrina Buff Frames 3  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 3.1.25
by: Satrina, father0fnine

SBF has a maintainer!
I have to say, I am amazed by the number of people who just kept plugging along. It makes me feel bad that I do not have the time to keep working on this myself - you guys are all awesome! The good news is that a new maintainer has been found. Meet father0fnine, who is taking over SBF. I'm sure you'll all show him as much love as you showed me all these years

SBF 3.2 with clickable buffs

* ha filters should behave a little bit better now
* Vehicle buff frames will update and clear when you exit a vehicle

I've not been using SBF for a long time (I've made my own oUF layout with advanced aura filtering) but some guilies are using it, and they told me that you still can't cancel a buff out of combat. I think that it was in patch 4.0.6 or maybe 4.0.3x that Blizzard restored the functionality out of combat, so a simple not InCombatLockdown() check before CancelUnitBuff should do the trick. (well that's what i'm doing in my aura module and it's working perfectly.)

I've just made them an untested fix for SBF 3.1.25, I'll post it here if it's working for them

Turns out that Diocode will not be able to take on SBF after all. I will find an alternative maintainer as soon as possible.

I'm having problems with whitelist option.

I made a new frame with a debuff list for target where SBF displays only my dot's like ignite, critical mass, combustion... and that works great.
But when I try to make a new frame with my buffs where I just want to display for example my Ice Block buff it works only first time I make that frame...after reloging it shows me all my buffs, not just Ice Block. So I need to make that frame again from start whenever I relog.
I tried same with my DK where I made a frame with target debuff list that works great, but again the new frame list with just a few buffs that I want to show me (survival cooldowns) works only first time I make it...after relog it shows me all my buffs, not only buffs I choose. That means I have 2 seperate frames that show me same buffs. Looks like SBF ignores Whitelist option in those new frames I made after relog, but Whitelist is still checked when I open SBF Options.

Anyone knows what's wrong, is it my mistake or SBF bug?

http://www.wowinterface.com/download...Cooldowns.html is probably the closest match.
I was using it until I was nailed by changes in my main class and forced to look for more flexible presentation of buffs/debuffs.

Since this add-on hasn't been updated since October of 2010 even with a new author on it, I was wondering if anyone knew of a suitable replacement until this is updated. I have some issues here and there with SBF atm, and am in need of something that is as flexible as this add-on with showing buffs/debuffs of self and targets. I love this add-on and hope it gets shown some love soon, but until then I'm in need of something that's capable of doing what SBF does and if there isn't one I'll just have to deal with my SBF issues until it's updated.

[bug] GameTooltip:SetUnitAura

Alright, there is a new author, but between two Wowinterface pages and one on Curseforge, there isn't a standardized place to report bugs. In fact, Curseforge's SBF ticket tracker is disabled, so here it is.
Code:
1x Usage: GameTooltip:SetUnitAura("unit", [index] or ["name", "rank"][, "filter"]):
<in C code>: ?
<in C code>: in function `SetUnitAura'
SatrinaBuffFrame-3.2\SBFElements.lua:839: in function <SatrinaBuffFrame\SBFElements.lua:819>
This happened in a 5 person heroic, just mousing over my buffs and debuffs.

What i've tried is using whitelist ("filtered buffs are being shown on this frame" that is...) and then just add these lines on the filters:

my
a!
n!=Nature's Grace
n!=Clearcasting
n!=Giant Wave
n!=Cleansing Tears
n!=Heartsong
All wrong.
Just add buffs that you want to see.

my&n=Rejuvenation
my&n=...
my&n=....

the problem is that only that it simply doesn't work this way...
Of course it doesn't. You wrote wrong rules.

it's really strange thought coz by using "add filter" option and inputing a filter on another line it should react additively on the whitelist instead of just performing the first check (my) and then simply include all "my" spells into the filter...
Nope. Each filter string is a separate rule.

or just bugging and not performing the check at all (not sure which one is the case that's why i mention both).
Neither. It works as intended.

A "solution" let's say that i found about this was to simply try adding everything onto 1 single line like this:

my&a!&D<60&n!=Clearcasting&n!=Nature's Grace&n!=Heartsong&n!=Replenishment&n!=Cleansing tears
You must be kidding. Why complicating it to the level of unplayability?
Every rule you add cost processing time to decide, which frame it going to go. Every rule you add with duration cost processing time every frame.

It does work with the "&" as supposed to but the problem is of course that the line has a limit and i can't add everything i want...
Trust me you can. Just not the way you've tried.

Am i doing something wrong...
You do.

is my programming thought through false for some reason?
You didn't read documentation. It's apparent.

I mean, i do insist that the seperate lines on the same filter are supposed to be additively functioning.
LOL? Each line is a separate filter.

I've also tried to think of a way to do this by using Blacklist ("filtered buffs are NOT being shown on this frame" that is) instead
You need to use both.
Blacklist in main frame, and whitelists where appropriate.

And to save you head from filling blacklist frame - take a look at supplementary plugin.

The way I see it and from what Satrina said, there were several people who were willing to take over the mod but the one who was selected doesn't really seem to care :/ Or at least he doesn't give any kind of update here or anywhere else.

So there is no way to have different buff frames in a single line with different visual characteristics? (Because if u place the buff frame above one another it will simply get on top of each other if the buffs exceed the buff per row / column i guess)

If by "child" you mean buff flowing, then no, it's not Frame2 get... whatever.
It's just that your buffs get placed in Frame1. With respective coloring, of course.

Is the parent's "X" frame's visual configurations (timer color, icon size etc. etc.) supposed to turn all child's "Y" , "Z" , "C" etc. etc. frames' visual configurations the same as its own?
for example... i create a buff frame named: "Frame1" and input appropriate filters to just show my effects on me (player option selected) and setup BLUE COLORED text for timers and BIG (let's say 40?) ICON size. Then i create another buff frame named: "Frame2" , input appropriate filters to just show other people's effects on me (player option selected ofc once again) and setup GREEN COLORED text for timers and SMALL (24?) ICON size. Assuming that the filters are 100% correct (in what i mentioned i want them to do..) why does "frame2" when selected as "frame1" 's child frame gets the visual configurations of "frame1" ?
I mean even Xperl (AND I DON'T MENTION THIS TO OFFEND U IN NO CASE!!) has an option for BIG debuffs and still flow into the frame as a single frame line...I mean is this a bug? Am i trying it the wrong way? Is there no way to do this with Satrina Buff frames coz it wasn't intended to be possible in the first place?

I really like this addon..and i m just trying to elaborate and help myself as well ^^
