ArkInventory (AI or ARKINV) is an inventory mod that was based off EngInventory when the BtS 2.0.0 patch came out and I needed a working replacement.

AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.


You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.


Overview:

* unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
* assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
* assign categories to the bar of your choice
* configurable bars per row
* configurable width
* display bank, bag, keyrings for current and alts across all realms
* separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing


Key Bindings:

Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

  • fixed - https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/issues/1871 - updated object code to handle any new INVTYPE values better

known issues
  • some default frames (vendor/merchant at minimum) that would normally open via the PlayerInteractionFrameManager no longer open if you are in combat, you just get an addon error. there is currently no workaround.
  • (dragonflight) reagentbank slots are no longer readable unless the bank is open
  • recipes on vendors are showing item counts for the items they create, not the recipe
  • Enum.ItemConsumableSubclass is missing the Flask entry and everything after has moved down a value which screws up the category names (have hardcoded a workaround for the moment)
  • items with an active cooldown dont allow comparison tooltips to generate
  • cooldowns no longer start automatically. you can close/open the bag to get them to show (if you enable that option). all of the cooldown events ACTIONBAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, BAG_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, PET_BAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, SPELL_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, appear to trigger off other players as well, but do not provide any indication whether the event was triggered by you or them, so cooldowns will trigger window refreshes fairly constantly when you are around large numbers of players. even limiting it to one update per second generated too much lag, especially in massive groups.
  • chat link for a battlepet in the guild bank will not send
  • the first time you click on a hyperlink in chat it wont show the item counts

to do
  • double check all categories show/hide for the right clients
  • confirm things havent broken in classic, wrath, or shadowlands
  • restack disable - maybe change this to require a modifier key instead of a straight disable? might be easier to shift/alt/ctrl click on it than turning it on/off and its not like youll accidentally do it (which is why the disable was added)
  • backpack tokens to scroll when max width reached on second line
  • extend the categoryset actions to individual items for additional granular control.
  • add action; move (bank to bag, bag to bank, bag to vault, vault to bag)
  • add actions to items
  • allow multiple actions on a category / item

have you got lua errors displayed? i want to check if youre getting a red "you cant use that here" error.

can you drag a carpet onto a spare action button and see if you can use it where you are?

i dont have any carpets so cant check this, but the code is generic, if the api says the mount spell can be used it will be summoned.

All of the tailoring flying carpets now work as ground mounts too. When changing this in the config menu it still will not allow you to mount these as ground mounts via the ArkInventory mount button shown by StatBlockCore. I have tried selecting only the flying carpets as choices for the random ground mount and when I clicked the button nothing would happen.

what other mods do you have that interact with glyphs and tooltips?

i replaced 5 glyphs on my priest with the talent reset and didnt get a single error so its most likely another mod tainting it and ai does something with the tainted variable.

you either ignore taint - because its not an actual error, its just a mod changing a secure variable when it shouldnt and then other mods reading it. or you have to turn on taintlogging and check the taintlog to see which mod actually tainted the secure variable in the first place.

I've been getting a tainted execution path error since 4.0.3a when trying to overwrite glyphs.

Hey, love the bag addon however, I don't like how it looks... so I just wanted to ask if you'll be adding theme support eventually, or a customization feature to make it look a certain way, like change borders, background... and maybe have different layout options for example having it a full solid all together frame, instead of having 3 parts to it, without the bags showing if you know what I mean? There is a top, a middle, and a bottom in the preview, a line separating the parts.

it adds a test( ) rule function, thats basically the trash or quality function (i cant remember exactly which one i used).

you'd copy the example mod, rename it to your rule then edit the code inside to do what you need to do to make your rule function work.

you could for example make a really simple rule function for checking if an item is bind to account and call it boa( ). thats not the best example as you can already do the same thing via tooltip( ) but you never know what people might think of.

tried it, it sucked, was never consistent and took up too much cpu with having to constantly re-build the window (to ensure you always had one slot open).

simplest way is to hide all the empty slots, leave the bag changer frame open, and just drop stuff onto a bag icon instead.

normal, its a blizzard bug, as it says you can disable the warning in the config if you want.

its a test rule, an example of how to code a custom rule, youre not supposed to enable it (its disabled by default)

when to log in do you see "ArkInventory: enabling Scrap support"

i cant see anything wrong with the rule function or the linking into scrap. (but i dont normally use scrap)

I use Scrap and as far as I get it, then ArkInventory should use whatever non-trash I define as Trash on Scrap as Trash in ArkInventory and place the items in the Trash-rule I've made?

Don't know if it's ArkInventory or Scrap there's reason it don't work, therefore I've posted in both?...

thats normal, theres a bunch of temporary data created when building the window, when its done all of that is dumped onto the garbage for lua to clean up whenever it gets around to it.

but it'll also clear up after 30 seconds or so.
and thats the garbage collector kicking in - also normal.

note that if you have instant and on window open sorting disabled and no item changes then opening and closing the window will use no memory at all its just hiding and showing the frame.
