Carousel displaying a clock plugin.
Carousel   Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Attention to users of versions before 2.0:
Carousel 2.0 has a restructured database and will convert as many of your settings from previous versions as possible. Some settings cannot be carried over however. Backup your saved variables if you are concerned about losing settings.

General Description:
Carousel is a LibDataBroker display addon, inspired by displays like Fortress and StatBlockCore. However, Carousel compacts multiple plugins into single blocks, which can cycle through plugins as you wish.

Type /carousel or /car to open the load on demand options menu, where you can edit the look and feel of the display, as well as the place and order to show LDB feeds. If you are interested in customizing Carousel's font, see the CarouselFont addon in optional files at the top of this page.

New in 2.0:
You can now have multiple "Carousels" bound together into bars. These bar will automatically resize to their contents, and can be left, right, or center anchored.
Carousel will alert you *once* when it finds a new LDB feed or updates to a new version. You can disable this feature in the /carousel menu.

Planned Features
  • Option to ignore launchers.
  • After showing a recently updated plugin, cycle back to the previous plugin after a certain amount of time.

Note To LDB Feed Developers:
Carousel has had issues with LDB feeds which "grab" onto and modify the frame sent in the OnEnter and OnLeave functions (examples are Fubar2Broker addons using Tablet). This is because multiple feeds can share a frame. Carousel implements OnShow and OnHide callbacks so LDB feeds can release the frame when the user hides the display through cycling or disabling an LDB feed, allowing the frame to be reused by another LDB feed.

Thanks for pvt message Astromech it was due to having set width.

What I would like to be able to do is have a single carousel 'visible' but switch between the LUA carousels.

I would like to setup a carousel for each instance and switch between them to view the relevant fight for heal assigns. Does that make sense?

I guess the ability to label the carousels would be cool for switching too.

Not sure if this is something that could be added or not

Thanks for a great mod

any body else know?

Anybody use carousel this way? and can point me in the right direction.

Just to clarify I have a single Bar but I have used the "Add Carousel" button in the feeds screen. I end up with Carousel #1, Carousel #2, Carousel #3 etc with feeds selected in each.

I can only see feeds in Carousel #1 and cant work out how to see the other carousels.

Really frustrating me atm cause I want to be able to only look at the feeds for the instance I am in (i'm using carousel for healing assigns).

maybe a stupid question

I have multiple carousels within the same bar, but don't know how to switch between them.

I.e. I have 1 bar with assigns for diff instances. I go to Uld i switch to uld coursel, I go to TOC i switch to that one.

Does that make sense?

Cheers Upy

PM

Oh no, sorry I should have specified. You can copy and paste the contents of the Lua file into the PM, that will be fine.

If that doesn't work, you can upload the Carousel.lua file in your WTF/Account/ACCOUNTNAME/SavedVariables folder and send it to me in a private message, and/or delete it. I may be able to solve the problem if I have your settings. Note that deleting the file will reset all your settings for Carousel, so make a back up just in case.
If I send you the LUA information as text, does it matter if it's not formatted? Because there doesn't seem to be an option to send the actual file.

Thumbs down Re: Re: Broker_AntiSocial's feed no longer shows up in Data Feeds

It's an easy fix. The author just needs to add

Code:
type = "data source",
at line 2.

This is new behavior introduced in Carousel 2. Previous versions would ignore the type field, but some newer types might be incompatible with Carousel.
Thanks - I'll pass that along to the author :-)

Unhappy Broker_AntiSocial's feed no longer shows up in Data Feeds

G'day.

Broker_AntiSocial is gone from all my character's Carousel profiles, despite still showing in 'Bar 1 Feeds'. Though if I remove it I cannot see it to add it back and it is not in the 'Data Feeds' tab of Caruosel's settings.

Any idea what's going on? I'm unsure when this happened, as I don't often access Broker_AntiSocial.

TIA,
Jamie Kahn Genet

Karecha, great! No problem.

Wyll

Oops, looks like I had Carousel marked for the wrong wow version. Don't worry, it should still work correctly. Just leave the load out of date button checked.

Well... even as I type I'm betting that my recent exposure to addons is the real problem here... but WOW is still complaining that carousel is out of date, so I'm still forcing the load. What am I missing? Does that 'reset your interface' msg when logging in apply to me?

Wimpface, you're welcome!

Karecha,
I see what you mean!
I think I know how to fix it. I'll try to get a quick new version out later today.

EDIT:

Just uploaded the new version. It should work how you want now!
