Simple Threat Meter
NOTE: Simple Threat Meter current release written to work with WotLK patch 3.1.3 onwards

New in version 3.1.2 - option to display absolute threat.
This option shows the amount of threat needed before you pull threat from the tank. The value is displayed in thousands. ie. -10.2k

Description
Simple Threat Meter was designed out of a desire to be able to see what my threat level was, simply and without having to visually locate a mod and study it.

Omen does such a great job that I haven't seen many other threat meters developed, but with the complexity of some fights, I wanted something that keeps me aware of my current threat level, but allows me to focus on the fight at hand.

So, Simple Threat Meter was born.

What does it do?

The bar displayed fills up from 0% to 100%. When it hits 100%, you pull aggro.

This uses the BUILT-IN Blizzard threat values, so is guaranteed to be correct, and is also based upon your distance to the target.

For reference, when using Omen or another threat meter, the values you need to be aware of:
110% - you will pull aggro from the tank if you are in melee range.
130% - you will pull aggro from the tank if you are further than melee.

With Simple Threat Meter, you just need to watch for 100%.

Configuration and Usage
To open the configuration panel, type the command: /stm or access through the standard add-ons configuration menu.

The configuration options themselves should be fairly clear.

The threat bars are also click-through when locked, meaning that they don't get in the way and stop you clicking on targets. You can also configure a transparency level, so you can see through the bars.

Solo / Group option. You can set STM so that it only functions in group or raid and doesn't display when solo.

================================================================================
Version 20400
================================================================================
Initial release version.

To open the configuration panel, type the command: /stm Additionally, if you
have the mod unlocked, you can access the options screen by right-clicking on
the drag bar.

The configuration options themselves should be fairly clear. Click on the
"Show test" button to see what the threat bars will look like in use, with the
options you have configured.

The threat bars only display in combat (you don't need them outside combat, so
why leave them there?) though you can show test bars using the config panel.

The threat bars are also click-through, meaning that they don't get in the way
and stop you clicking on targets.

Lastly, you can configure a transparency level, so you can see through the bars.

Any chance we'll see visual improvements such as making it look like Blizz's casting bar or something like that? (always customisable, of course)

Ok, I figured it out, what was causing the threat meter to not stay put.

It occured whenever the user was also running a viewport mod, as I was saving the position relative to the screen, but setting it relative to the viewable area.

Lesson learned and problem fixed!

Odd. I had that happen once myself, but only once. I'm trying to figure out what could be causing it. Hmmm, will try more tests.

Finally found the time to get the coding finished.

Quite happy with the vertical bar managing vertical statusbar textures, though for now I've limited it to a subset of the sharedmedia textures, as I have to rotate them manually and include with the distribution.

I've gotten about halfway through coding a new version of STM from the ground up, using Ace3.

Changing work has meant I just don't have anything like the amount of time in WoW that I used to and playing in a couple of raids a week has taken precendence over mod coding.

It will be back though, I still personally miss my nice large, "OMG! Watch your threat!" bar on my screen when smacking raid bosses around.

ERROR

I tried to go into config "/stm" and got this error:

[2009/01/25 17:03:53-7-x2]: SimpleThreatMeter-2.4.3d\Core.lua:174: attempt to call global 'InterfaceOptionsFrame_OpenToFrame' (a nil value)

Interface\FrameXML\ChatFrame.lua:2951: in function `ChatEdit_OnEnterPressed':
<string>:"*:OnEnterPressed":1: in function <[string "*:OnEnterPressed"]:1>

Will there be an update? Or perhaps someone step up to the plate and fix this?

I am able to access the config via the main menu then "interface" and then selecting the "AddOns" tab.

Just thought you might want to know about this.

No actually, the bars do not work correctly in combat in WoW 3.0.x/WotLK.

This mod relies on the obsolete LibThreat-2.0 library, which--due to the WoW 3.0 changes--no longer works at all. All WoW 3.0 compatible threat mods rely on using Blizzard's new built-in threat API, which this mod does not use.

So SimpleThreatMeter is dead. Yes, would be nice to see it come back to life for the current WoW.
