Cursor
_Cursor adds detailed, customizable cursor trails to your UI. If you've ever lost track of your mouse in a hectic battle, or if you're looking to put the finishing touches on your stylized UI, look no further. _Cursor uses World of Warcraft's built-in spell effects to offer a variety of preset cursor looks while leaving your system's resources free for more important things.
Details
The Cursor
Each character's cursor can be customized to match that character's style. They can have multiple layers, so you can mix and match different styles. Each layer can show one of many preselected effects, or you can choose your own “Custom” model effect from the game's files. In addition, you can scale, rotate, and move layers around to stack them up in unique ways.
Saved Sets
A “Set” is a pre-packaged cursor, like a template that you can save and load between characters. _Cursor comes with a few default sets, such as the “Energy Beam” default, pictured to the right. But if a lightning cursor doesn't fit with your character, feel free to save your old set and create something more fitting from scratch.
Options
_Cursor's extensive configuration is available in the Interface Options window, or simply with the “/cursor” slash command.
Sets
Save, load, and delete cursors for your other characters to use. Select your saved sets from the dropdown menu, or type a name in directly.
Cursor
Lets you preview and edit each layer of your active cursor. Every layer has a tab associated with it, and they can be toggled on or off using the Model Enabled checkbox.
Preset Type
The category of preset effects, such as “Particle Trail” or “Glow”. With a category selected, see the Preset Name dropdown box below to browse effects in that category. The “Custom” category allows you to specify any model file's path within the game.
Preset Name
This dropdown lists all preset effects in the chosen Preset Type. Select one to preview and use it for the active layer.
File Path
Shows the location of the current effect model. When the “Custom” Preset Type is selected, you may edit this path freely. However, you must leave out the file extension.
The checkered box on the right side previews the layer behind a dummy cursor. The preview is animated, and can be sped up or stopped by clicking on it. The self-explanatory slider bars to the left and below the preview move the cursor up/down and left/right in relation to the cursor, respectively.
The Scale slider controls how large the effect should be drawn, ranging from half-size to four times normal size. Lastly, the Facing slider controls the direction that the model looks, where moving the slider from one end to the other will rotate it completely.
Change Log - Cursor
3.3.0.2: The cursor trail now hides during FMV cinematics such as the Wrathgate event.

Here's a version of my _FileTest addon pre-packaged with a reasonable selection of 3.3.0's model files. I trimmed the file list down to about 1600 models out of 16k possible.
When you log in with the mod enabled, it will show a dialog box with your progress through the file set and info about the current file. You'll know them once you test them, since they stay huge on-screen even when you try shrinking them. Your scrollwheel will move forward and back through the list, or you can right/left click the progress bar as an alternative. This version requires _Cursor to be enabled, and the model files will show up as cursor trails.
One thing to keep in mind is that many of the models with big glow effects won't scale properly. Once you find a model you like, copy the path name out of the edit box and use that as the custom path in _Cursor. You'll probably need to close or disable _FileTest before trying to change _Cursor's options though.

Edit: If you want to skip really far into the list (in case you get interrupted), you can use this chat command replacing 1234 with how far you want to go:
Originally posted by Saiket I wrote a tool to look through all of the effects called _FileTest, but it doesn't come with a list of models; You'll need to extract the list using a few extra tools described on that page. It won't be easy to do, sadly.
I could do the configuration for you, but that depends on what you'll use the list for. Did you just want a list of all files, or a fully working copy of _FileTest to browse the models with in-game?

Thank you for a wonderful mod. As melee DPS and at my advanced age (well, not that old but I've got a lot of miles on the odometer!) I found that I lost my cursor in mass trash pulls and on boss fights with all of the AOE effects flying around on a pretty regular basis.
_cursor has been a great help to me in keeping up on situational awareness in Raids. Just put in a small donation via Pledgie. Thanks again!

I know it has to do with editing the API _ setcursor in the LUA but I don't know the first thing about editing LuA.
I don't think the cursor graphic can be resized, even with SetCursor. I believe it takes 32x32 pixel images or something along those lines, and nothing larger. The only solution I can think of is for you to lower your screen resolution and crank the UI scale down. It would look a little worse, but the cursor would stay big.

I'd love to see an option added to only use the cursor in combat (or perhaps use two different sets, one for in combat, and one for out?). I tend to lose my cursor in big battles, so want something that screams "Here I am!" for that; but those same settings are a bit distracting while, for example, browsing the AH.

Kepi is a sweetheart.
Oh I don't doubt that the patch-F.MPQ file is clean; I'm simply concerned that Warden (Blizzard's cheat police program) will mistake it for a cheat and drop the banhammer. Sure, it's a long shot, but I personally wouldn't risk it.
