The Bar in all its Minimalistic Glory

QuesterJester

Miss the usable quest item button from Autobar? This addon accomplishes just that. It is a single bar that automatically tracks your usable quest items and binds them to a key.

For extra minimalism, the bar is hidden until you mouse over.

How To Use

The slash menu /qj manages the addon. Options:

anchor: shows a draggable anchor so you can move the bar
grow: can be up/down/left/right, controls the direction the bar expands in
scale/spacing: these should be self-evident
help: help message

Notes

Integrates with ButtonFacade (use the /bf menu to configure)
No dependencies or embedded libraries, 50k memory usage, low CPU and memory growth
Right clicking a button makes it the hot (displayed) button

1.0.1 -- much lower garbage generation, and lower cpu overhead.
1.0.2 -- will show correctly on first login
1.0.3 -- more item coverage, like arcane charges

As of the latest WoW patch today, I'm getting the following errors when I mouse-over the QJ box and it opens with my quest items (the errors repeat each time I mouse-over). I am uncertain if functionality remains with the items via QJ.

Update: Functionality verified! It still appears to work, regardless of the error.

Jaim Sandar A Kobold Labourer Forum posts: 0 File comments: 270 Uploads: 1	grow and moving I really wanted to try out QuesterJester because I liked the idea of having only one button visible until hovering over it to pop out the rest of the bar. I am currenlty using a very similar AddOn, QBar. It is unlike QuesterJester in that it doesn't "grow", or pop out, but is a solid bar of visible buttons. A major problem I have with QuesterJester is the move anchor. Depending on where I want to anchor the base button, it could be a problem. It would be fine and dandy if I wanted to put the button on the right screen border, where the anchor allows it to be butted right up to the edge and it can conveniently pop out to the left. Unfortunately, I can't put it there with my screen layout. I need to place the base button against the left border of the screen, with the direction to grow set to "right". The problem is, you can't move the button all the way to the left with the anchor on the left side, as it appears when you "/qj grow right". I can "/qj grow left", and move it all the way over, But when I issue "/qj grow right" to change it back to the correct popout direction, the base button moves to the right a whole button width. The anchor on QBar is a bar on either long side of the row (or column if the button bar is vertical). That is much more usable for placement anywhere on the screen. Thank you. Edit: I forgot to mention, just so you know all the differences from QBar: QBar also has an "ignore" function, where you can cause items that appear on the bar by default to be hidden. That is sometimes handy to have, when the item isn't something that you need to have access to "use" to complete a quest objective. Edit 2: Thinking more about the ignore function, I suppose that with the button bar that is hidden until it pops out when hovering over the base button, it really isn't necessary to hide buttons with an ignore.
