So you've made a portal for the guy who gave you 3 gold. He went through, and now it is just sitting there, useless. Only one player went through and you got more than enough money to cover the reagents. So why not open it to the public.
PortMe is an addon designed for portal invite management. It responds to the phrase 'port me' in various channels.
If there is a portal active that has already been paid for, it will notify nearby players that they may use it. When they say 'port me', it will notify them of the entrance, exit, and duration until the portal expires. It will also invite them to a group.
If there is no active portal, it will try to sell them one.
If you are already in a group, and cannot invite, It will notify them that no portals are available at this time.
CURRENT FEATURES
* Notify's nearby players after a successful portal spawn
* Notify's Pary/Raid members of exact portal location (including coordinates)
* Invites players who whisper the magic phrase while the portal is open
* Attempts to sell a portal when no portal is active
* Will not sell or invite if you are not capable of inviting

This is the first release of PortMe. It is stable, however there are not currently any customizable options yet. More features are coming soon.
One thing that would be nice, is if you are able to set a "standard fee" and it requires it from the person before they are able to use the port. If that makes sense? Say you announce in trade.
"Porting from Stormwind to Shatt for the next 3 minutes. 2g per person. Msg me for exact location".
And they have to pay the fee..it doesn't open up the trade window, but just adds it to your money. Opens up a trade for them though, because they don't have the addon. If someone who is in your friends or guild list, you can select pass or charge before it accepts their "trade money". I'm not sure how that would work, but dang that'd be niiice.
This way, you can get multiple gold for the one portal ^_~ Hey, a person has to earn their gold somehow *blush* lol

I think I'll disable it for now. I love the idea, the control just isn't at the level I'd like. I'm definately going to be checking back on this one.
I agree with everything trogdorhunter has said! You've got to remember that not all of WOWs players are intelligent enough to understand what 'these things' are for. So providing a simple slash command or simple GUI to allow custom messages and behaviors would be nice. Disabled for me too, but I'll be keeping an eye on it.
