BasicChatMods  Updated this week!  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v7.0.2
by: funkydude [More]

By default BCM will allow you to drag your chat frames to the very edge of the screen, the remaining customization is done in BCM's modules which can be enabled or disabled at will.

Configure
Type /bcm to configure BasicChatMods, a basic and modular approach to chat customization.

Combat Log Timestamps
Currently provided by Blizzard, right-click combat log tab > Settings > Formatting > Show Timestamp. Repeat this for every combat log, e.g. "My Actions", "What happened to me?".

BasicChatMods is open source and development is done on GitHub. You can contribute code, localization, and report issues there: https://github.com/funkydude/BasicChatMods

The error happened when a friend logged off, wasn't related to whispers.

/r only works after someone whispers you, maybe that was your problem.

Cannot reproduce when using /r to respond to bnet whispers. Please test with only BCM enabled.

Technically yes but this addon doesn't provide such an option.

I noticed that you changed the chatcopy frame to readonly. While that sounds sensible, there is a huge issue with that: I can't copy text when I'm not allowed to use my keyboard to do so. (I'm on a Mac, if that makes a difference.) CMD+C is not accepted "input" so the whole feature is useless

Well, I wouldn't personally but I can imagine such a use case: One might be using a fancy font for chat (to make roleplaying more appealing or who knows) but the combat log should still be "readable" in a basic font.

The default UI already does that as of 5.4.7.

Could I allow it? Yes. Does it make sense? Not as far as I can see. You'd need to convince me of that.

A UI is meant to be consistent, I don't see why someone would want different fonts on different chat windows. Different alignments doesn't break consistency. For example, you might want a left, middle, and right alignment for placing your chat windows on the left, middle, and right hand side of the screen respectively.

Yep. With an editbox open using the up/down arrows no longer scrolls through my list of recently typed messages. Holding Alt and using the arrow keys does scroll through them but this is the behaviour we are trying to avoid by using this mod.

Setting eb:AltArrowKeyMode to true in any of the files just makes the game ignore arrow presses while an editbox is open.

I tested earlier releases ( as far back to 7.2 ) and these old versions also do not work (they used to) which suggests a Blizzard change.
