Poisoner3 Menu
Poisoner 3   Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Credits to Karrion of Terenas for the original poisoner addon.

Background:
Poisoner3 is essentially a fixup to the original poisoner so that it works with WoW 3.0. As such I have endeavoured to keep as much of the feel and functionality as possible. The only thing that is different is the popup/hide behaviour of the menu, this is now done by clicking the minimap button (Blizz changed the XML child/parent stuff enough to mess up the mechanism previously used).

Installation:
Extract the archive into your Wow/Interface/Addons folder.

Info:
Although this addon is usefull for most/all classes, it is by default disabled for all but rogues, simply type /poisoner enable to activate it.

When the addon is installed, a small button is displayed near the minimap. Feel free to drag this like normal. Clicking the minimap button will cause a popup menu of the poisons/oils in you bag, Left click to apply poison/oil to mainhand, Right click to apply poison/oil to off-hand. Click the minimap button to hide the menu again.

Command Line:
/poisoner enable Enable display of the poisoner button.
/poisoner disable Disable display of the poisoner button.
/poisoner lock Prevent the poisoner button from being dragged.
/poisoner unlock Allow the poisoner button to be dragged.
/poisoner scale x Sets the scale of the poisoner menu (value of 1 = no change, less than 1 results in shrinking, values greater than 1 results in enlarging)
/poisoner position {left|right} Set which side of the minimap button the menu appears.
/poisoner reset Reset the position and scale of the poisoner button.
/poisoner name Sets the tooltip to display only the item name.
/poisoner full Sets the tooltip to display the full details of the item.

Known Issues: (see comments for workarounds)
Current incompatibility with MinimapButtonBag - Poisoner button cannot be removed from MBB in game, has to be done in MBB saved vars.
Current Incompatibility with SpartanUI - Poisoner fails to display correctly and prohibits display of the minimap.

ToDo:
> Rewrite of the older sections of code to bring the addon inline with ALL of the new fancy stuff in 3.0 (in progress)
> Option to use an action button instead of a minimap button in an effort to fix spartanui compatibility issue (in progress)
> Restore the auto popup/hide of the original (in progress)

Future Features (possibles):
> Right-Click minimap button to rebuff last selected main+off hand buffs.
> Add vertical button option(s)
> Possible auto-purchase system for poisons.
> Possible User defined button ordering
  Change Log - Poisoner 3
Changes:
3.01.1
Added 2 command line options to change the tooltip from type - name only or full (see addon info).

3.01 :
Enhanced button management to "remove" empty buttons from the menu
Improved the tooltip info to provide the full item description (this info can only be maintained whilst you have 1 or more of the item and the item is in your bag)

Sad to say...

Due to various RL problems and issues, I am currently not playing the game, nor am I able to do so, as such, any updates to the code that I could/would make would be purely theoretical and very unstable to say the least.

If anyone out there wishes to continue/adopt this addon then please feel free to do so.

Apologies for not being able to inform you guys sooner, but I guess its the typical thing that RL always has an unexpected and nasty sting in its tail at times.

Afaik: to continue the addon here would require a fresh project to be created by whoever takes over (then just link in the comments), however, on curse you can request to adopt the project (takes a couple of days as I recall for the request to go through).

I'm saddened that this addon has not undergone an update as of yet. The version on Curse has not been updated in 7 months. This is a great addon, and it should not go to waste.

With all of the thousands of addons that could go to waste, this should not be one of them. Right now it stands to fall into the same category as Totem Caddy: awesome for their time.

Someone please fix this addon, or make a new Rogue addon which does something similar.

Just a suggestion

How hard would it to be to create a graphical UI to go along with this for the options (the /poisoner ones), and to add an auto-buy feature, similiar to what lunarsphere does for regeants for all classes? (In Lunarsphere, you drag the items into an area, and set the quantity that you want of that item. Then, it'll automatically buy it for you to bring you up to that quantity. )

I'm just trying to avoid using an entirely separate addon for one feature, the auto buying of my poisons.

Not sure on the cause, but i can tell you what is NOT happening: Poisoner's config is NOT being saved, lemme explain, on login poisoner checks for its saved vars file, if it find 1 it loads in the previous settings for that given character, when you logout out it saves them, in addition, the class enabled check code isn't working (poisoner is set to enabled by default for ALL rogues). there is something on your setup that is preventing poisoner from performing an ingame check on your class and saving/loading its saved vars, I would check your client installation is not corrupted.

if you are running wow on vista also check/do the following, right-click its desktop icon -> properties -> compatibility -> select run as admin - this is especially important if you have WoW installed in the default c:\program files folder as this folder is heavily protected and any program not running with admin priviledges cannot write to any folder/sub folder of c:\program files, this causes wow alot of headaches if overlooked.

hey guys, thanks for the good feedback

atm, i've not really got much time, hell i'm hardly able to get on the net apart from the odd time here n there, just one of those RL things hehehe

so a quick reply to those since my last post..

(Ranova)
autohide: posioner pre3.0 had this, its something that i want back, its on the "todo" list

Rebuff alarm: this is debateable but atm its beyond the scope of the original purpose of the addon, however it does fit with the theme and idea of the addon so i'll add that to my "features todo" list, although there are other things to take care of first, i'll look at this when i look at "auto repurchase of poisons" options

(Sedh)
warlock stones: i'm aware and fully appreciate that having 1 addon cover everything relevant is great, but atm theres a few more pertinent things that need to be done for the rogue side of things, however, consider warlock stuff as something that i'll certainly look at further down the line, got a lock myself hehe

(Saltorio)
The minimap thing: yer not far off there, the problem is that afaik, pre3.0 if you wanted to show/hide based on mouseovers while in combat things had to be done in secure-state-headers and everything involved be children of. so even thought it uses a minimap button template for the minimap button, its more like a secure action button (such as those on yer main action bars). because of that, other addons such as MBB, SpartanUI, Sexymap etc etc ie anything that tries to "possess" minimap buttons will always have issues with the current code. I've not had any real chance to play around with the "new" secure-handlers that 3.0 wants us to use instead, they may allow such problems to be fixed without any side effects, but if they dont then i've got a possible alternative solution that should work

great addon. but i like to have one more feature: since 3.0 warlock's spell/firestones are worth being used, so it would be perfect to include these weapon buffs as well =)

Hey silentdave,

I know you said your kindof busy lately, but I figured I'd mention this anyways. I switched from Chinchilla to SexyMap last night. SexyMap's got some nice features for handling minimap elements, including the ability to hid them unless the cursor is over the minimap. It seems to pretty much all minimap buttons (including oRA, DeadlyBossMods, and even Macaroon - which uses a custom popout menu somewhat similar to yours).

However, SexyMap doesn't seem to recognize Poisoner's minimap button. It doesn't offer any options for it in it's options (like it does for other addon minimap buttons), and as such it doesn't hide the icon.

I've noticed that the Poisoner button (when unlocked) can be placed anywhere on screen and isn't tied to the minimap like most other buttons. I have a feeling this may be part of the issue with compatibility with various minimap addons.

You may want to look at (if you aren't alreay) rebuilding the button as a standard minimap button, which might resolve these issues.

Just my $0.02. As ususal, thanks for all the great work. Poisoner is still a wonderful addon.

hey thank you so much for porting poisoner to 3.0! I was using weaponrebuff but that addon is so clunky.

A few suggestions:

could you allow it to auto hide when you move your mouse cursor away from the poisons? The old version did this so you wouldn't have to click the poisoner icon again to hide it.

I did like weaponRebuff's option to warn you with notifications and sound when you had 1 minute left on your poisons and when they faded. It would be great if you could have this option also.

Thanks again

heheh no worries check around with simpleminimap on how it controls the minimap buttons, additionally if you are not on a rogue then, by default, poisoner is disabled, simply type "/poisoner enable". An addon i find usefull with simpleminimap/squeenix is detachedMiniButtons, what can happen sometimes is that minimap buttons get stuck underneath the minimap, and unless they are released from the minimap you can never get to them, so dmb will allow you to release them - be warned it can take a few reset minimap buttons to get them okay but its more than doable.
