TooltipItemIcon
Adds an icon to the reference tooltip (from clicking on an item link in chat) and the popup tooltips (when mousing over an item).

Icons can be displayed in a small frame to the side of the tooltip, inside the tooltip (near the top right corner), or used as a background for the tooltip.

Works for Items, Spells and Achievements.

Configuration:

TooltipItemIcon uses slash commands to change modes, to enable/disable certain tooltips, and to change the location of the icon frame around the tooltip. These are documented in the included commands.txt file, but here are some examples:

/ttii inside {switch to Inside mode}

/ttii gametooltip off {disables the icon for the popup tooltip}

/ttii gametooltip lefttop {moves the icon for the popup tooltip to the left side}

/ttii reset {reset all settings to the defaults}

Compatability:

Should work with any language version of WoW; however the Slash commands are in English.

Compatible with LinkWrangler and some other Tooltip AddOns.

This is an update of TooltipItemIcon by Freddy @ curse.com. That project has since been archived (last update was Feb 2006).

The icon borders are actually part of the icon, so you need to either cover them up or chop them out. I may be able to manage something in Frame mode, I'll have to think about it some more.

ButtonFacade was a nice idea, but when I looked at the documentation it only works with Buttons, so I don't think I can make it work here.

TooltipItemIcon version 1.536
This is a beta version.

Should fix an error where multiline text in GameTooltip sometimes gets truncated after displaying a large icon in Inside mode.

Please report any more problems or errors!

AnrDaemon: I don't think I can change alpha (or fade) for inside mode, but I'll have to think about it.

I haven't had any problems using /ttii compare on - if you had a problem and can tell me how to recreate it I'll try again. Unfortunately Inside mode is the most "fragile" though - it's the easiest for other AddOns to mess up

For those experiencing absence of icons in Compare tooltip after
/ttii compare on
Do a complete reset.
/ttii reset
Then set it all up again.

Can I propose a wish to make alpha applied to inside mode as well? Please?
I need it because it sometimes fits into bag slots too perfect, slightly confusing me >.> if only it could be a bit more distinctive...

P.S.
Heh... interesting approach for inside mode
It driving the height of the item name string with tooltip size!

Icon size issue

AnrDaemon: I don't actually mess with the anchors or layout in Inside mode, I just insert the icon into one of the text fields and then let Blizzard adjust the layout! Unfortunately this isn't working

I've been trying various adjustments but most of them had no effect - until I found something today that might work I need to do some more testing and adjusting - should be a new version out soon.

I saw issue close to this on Norganna tracker.
But for exactly this issue, I have something to ask.
With default icon size, it fits in tooltip almost perfectly.
Why it gets misplaced when I increase icon size? What the anchors you're using to position icon? It seems it is right+center at the center of the item name string. At least it looks that way when I resize icon.

Thanks for the error reports

I've figured out why the wrong icon was sometimes showing (plenty of detail in your report Visceroid!) and I'm testing a fix.

The problem with the size command not taking effect immediately is I forgot something that keeps internal variables synchronized (oops) - added in next version.

I see the problem with large icon sizes in inside mode. I actually rely on default Blizzard code to set the size and layout for the tooltip, and it seems to be less than adequate in this case I'll see if I can find a way round it...

Bug with TooltipItemIcon

Just found out a little but annoying but with TTII.

When you click an itemlink in chat, it opens with the correct icon shown. If you close the opened window with X no problem appears. Tho if you now click the same item link again, which closes the opened window and then click another itemlink, the new window will show the old icon from the last link opened instead of the new one.
This only happens when you click the itemlink again to close it, apparently. Does not happen if you click an itemlink, and then click another itemlink to make the new window show. Correct icon is shown that way.

Happens on all my chars.
I have Spell, Achievement and Compare icons off - rest of the settings is standard.

PM or reply here if you need additional information or a list of addons I'm using.
