This addon will provide you with all the information currently in the Wowhead database showing all known locations of herbs, minerals and treasures. Now you can simply load up Gatherer, plug this database into it, and know what can be found in the zone you are in, without having to discover them yourself.
Wowhead will be providing regular dumps of their database to the Norganna team, who will then update the GathererDB Wowhead addon exclusively here on WoWInterface.
How it works
The import procedure is simple and painless. Once you have installed the AddOn and have reloaded the game, ensuring that both Gatherer and GathererDB_Wowhead are activated. When you finally log into the game, follow this procedure to import the new data into Gatherer:
Open Gatherer's configuration dialog.
Click on the red "Database" tab on the left-hand side of the dialog.
Click the import button in the main panel.
* Be certain that you have the SlideBar and HUD active for at least the import. Afterward, you can simply deactivate them, again.
Make sure to add GathererDB-Wowhead to your favourites list here on WoWInterface and check back periodically to see if it's been updated, or get an email sent to you whenever they update it if you have those notifications turned on. Any time they update it, just re-download GathererDB-Wowhead and update your local copy.
Help improve the database
If you want to contribute your data back to Wowhead to continue expanding the database, please download and install the Wowhead client (available for both PC and Mac) and just follow the instructions on their site.
About Gatherer
Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap.
The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining, or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in its history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on the minimap.
When you view your World Map, you will also see the item locations clearly marked on each zone's map.
About Wowhead
Wowhead was created with one sole intent: to provide World of Warcraft players with an extensive database and tools to enhance their gaming experience. This website is our contribution to this wonderful game.
Our user community is a big part, if not the biggest part, of Wowhead. Almost all of our information comes from our users, through data uploads from the Wowhead Client, comments on database entries and screenshot submissions! The site also features forums, where users can ask questions, discuss important Warcraft-related topics, recommend and share favorite addons, and much more!

Nikk-
Thanks. I guess I didn't see the info that the nodes shown are based on individual character's active gathering mode. Thanks for putting such a great add-on together. It makes my game play that much better.

**You need to click the "Load Out of Date" check box at the top of the main WoW AddOns Control Panel or GathererDB_Wowhead will not function.
After that, all display options are handled by Gatherer, which shows the nodes applicable to a given character, by default, such as when they have "Track Herbs" or "Track Mineral Veins" active. You can easily show all node types, and have different ones shown on the main map, mini map, and, or the HUD.
Simply right-click the Gatherer icon on the SlideBar or the minimap icon, if active, click "Configure" at the bottom of the report window, and set what ever options you like.
Happy Gatherering,
Nikk

Can't figure out how to properly install or activate the database inside gatherer
I am pretty sure I installed the gatherer db addon correctly on my computer but when i log in to a character in my WOW acct there is no "red database" option under the configure tab of gatherer. I also do not see the aforementioned "load out of date addons" anywhere. Please help?
Just verified that they are in there for Dun Morogh.
Look for 1731 under the Dun Morogh subsection, ~97 locations for copper veins.

In regard to that, the data we have thus far is included.
Actually looking to get an update sometime relatively soon, but no ETA as of yet. As noted, we still do not have changed areas, so the items that do exist have not changed or moved, but anything "new" can be added then- assuming it is available to us.

As noted in the other responses, until there is some change to the maps or change in the node locations, the current database reflects the location of the nodes.

I installed both add-ons correctly, but apparently did not click the option to "load out of date add-ons," which is why the database didn't show up. All is good now and I'm loving it- so helpful! Thank you!

If you do not see the database tab in the Gatherer options, then you did not install the GathererDB_Wowhead AddOn correctly.
It needs to be installed, just like any other AddOn, then follow the instructions that you helpfully copied in.
When I chek in the AddOns if it’s installed correctly it tells me that GathererDB: Wowhead is out for date. Then I just click the button load out of date AddOns, but then it tells me that Dependency missing. If I just forgetting that for a short time, and logging in to the game and riding /Gathermate the toolbox coms up and clicking on the Database tab (import data) Then grathermate data is ridden with grey not white so I can’t click on it??
I hope you can help me
Best regards,
Thomas Mikkelsen
Ok only problem I see, is you are trying to put this with Gathermate... (wrong addon) what you need is "Gatherer" a completely different addon. Once you have that downloaded into your addons folder along with "GathererDB" you should be pickin those flowere and cleaning out those mines in no time
