This addon will provide you with all the information currently in the Wowhead database showing all known locations of herbs, minerals and treasures. Now you can simply load up Gatherer, plug this database into it, and know what can be found in the zone you are in, without having to discover them yourself.
Wowhead will be providing regular dumps of their database to the Norganna team, who will then update the GathererDB Wowhead addon exclusively here on WoWInterface.
How it works
The import procedure is simple and painless. Once you have installed the AddOn and have reloaded the game, ensuring that both Gatherer and GathererDB_Wowhead are activated. When you finally log into the game, follow this procedure to import the new data into Gatherer:
Open Gatherer's configuration dialog.
Click on the red "Database" tab on the left-hand side of the dialog.
Click the import button in the main panel.
* Be certain that you have the SlideBar and HUD active for at least the import. Afterward, you can simply deactivate them, again.
Make sure to add GathererDB-Wowhead to your favourites list here on WoWInterface and check back periodically to see if it's been updated, or get an email sent to you whenever they update it if you have those notifications turned on. Any time they update it, just re-download GathererDB-Wowhead and update your local copy.
Help improve the database
If you want to contribute your data back to Wowhead to continue expanding the database, please download and install the Wowhead client (available for both PC and Mac) and just follow the instructions on their site.
About Gatherer
Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap.
The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining, or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in its history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on the minimap.
When you view your World Map, you will also see the item locations clearly marked on each zone's map.
About Wowhead
Wowhead was created with one sole intent: to provide World of Warcraft players with an extensive database and tools to enhance their gaming experience. This website is our contribution to this wonderful game.
Our user community is a big part, if not the biggest part, of Wowhead. Almost all of our information comes from our users, through data uploads from the Wowhead Client, comments on database entries and screenshot submissions! The site also features forums, where users can ask questions, discuss important Warcraft-related topics, recommend and share favorite addons, and much more!
Change Log - GathererDB WoWHead
18 FEB 2009 Updated to the latest nodes, including those recently renamed in 3.0.8.
29 DEC 2008 Corrected some inconsistancies between GathererDB and Gatherer. Included more node locations.
05 DEC 2008 Corrected issues in the script pertaining to Icecrown, node IDs, and a few more nodes included in the DB.
04 DEC 2008 Corrected Icecrown naming, items should now appear in that zone.
03 DEC 2008a The correct, expanded DB file and other changes.
03 DEC 2008 Added yet more Northrend and other WotLK node locations, formatting of file, et cetera.
Originally posted by Ecwfrk I was going to update it myself (the Northrend zones anyway), but as I started doing it I found that the difference between the data in the GatherDB addon and the data on WoWhead is one Titanium node in Icecrown, 1 in Dragonblight, 2 saronite nodes in Shalozar, and a rich cobalt deposit in Grizzly Hills. Blizz obviously hasn't added or moved nodes around much, if at all and the WoWhead data was pretty much already complete when this DB was compiled.
Not worth the effort to update for such minor changes.
Oh I've found new gatherings myself though.
Like the everfrost-chips in Storm Peaks. Those are not in the database at all.
And I found some new old-continent nodes (herbs/ore/chests) not being in the database as well.
Well it's not a big deal gathering new data yourself and such, but the whole purpose of the database was the first-start help for new gatherer users and in my opinion the database could use an update.
Not only for the TOC-version-update as mentioned a lot of times before.
Originally posted by Derpo I've been checking this database for a couple of times a week for over half a year now and I only saw 1 posting this year.
I give up. I dont think there will be another one posted.
Shame... I did sent all my gatherings to wowhead every day.
And so did a lot of other people.

You can check it yourself for any major updates should they occur pretty quickly by counting the entries in the DB and the numbers shown on WoWhead. For instance, there's 405 entries for Titanium ore in Icecrown (I C&P the list in Word, replaced the , with a manual line break, and then pasted the list into Excel to quickly count the DB entries) in the DB while WoWhead shows 406 nodes in Icecrown.
Auctioneer, Enchantrix, and Gatherer functions are our first priority.
This falls well down the list of priorities, quite frankly, especially when the locations have not changed since a few months prior to the latest update.
So, will an update be along at some point? Surely. Would we recommend holding your breath? No.
Happy Gatherering,
Nikk

Originally posted by ellindigo I just downloaded the GathererDB_WoWHead database for the first time. When I go into the Gatherer config screen I do NOT have a database option. I've tried it with HUD and slider enabled, and then disabled, but no luck. I've made sure that my Gatherer add-on is up-to-date.
When I run /gatherer from within the game I get a GUI that has the following menu on the left-hand side:
Core Options
Profiles
Minimap
Sharing
Mining
Herbalism
Treasure
About

HUD
That's it. No database option. No way to import.
I'm guessing that I'm missing something obvious. I surely would appreciate it if someone would point out my mistake to me.

Nikk,
Redownloaded both Gatherer 3.14 and GathererDB.
Deleted folders:
- !Swatter
- Gatherer
- Gatherer HUD
- Slidebar
Disabled only the Auctioneer Advanced components.
After logging onto my toon everything went in perfect order:
- The date of database showed properly in “Database” tab
- The “Import” button initiated successfully necessary action.
The most probable (and obvious) reason of former failure was the cleanup of Interface folder and subsequent addons installation. As far as I can recall I installed Gatherer 1st and after the Auctioneer Suite that had overwritten Slidebar and !Swatter folders. One of these folders apparently was not compatible with database import and recognition function of Gatherer.
Thanks for the advice

Maybe try re-downloading. If all is as you say, it should work just fine.
What you could also try is disabling all other AddOns except the 5, Gatherer, GathererHUD, SlideBar, Swatter, and GathererDB_WoWhead as there could be some conflict.
Let us know if that helps or if you find something else.

- Load out of date addons is enabled
- Gatherer 3.14, Gatherer HUD and Gatherer DB are enabled
- I can see the database tab in the Gatherer config
- The database date does not show properly in Databese tab
- Pressing Import button causes quick flash of the screen showing attempt to import but the import itself is not effected
- Googled web on this issue all the way thru
- Found nothing that helps

What should happen is that there should be a red circle, indicating that the node is an import and not one that you, yourself gathered. They should stay that way until you, personally, extract an item from the node, and it should then display the "correct" icon.
This is all Gatherer's behavior, not necessarily related to the database, itself, but we can try to help.
If the above is not happening, could you please take some screenshots showing what happens with the other types of nodes and what happens with the Saronite? Simply take the screen shot, then look in ..\WorldofWarcraft\Screenshots, where you will find a nice JPG of the image, then you can place the images at http://Up.Norganna.Org , and include the assigned URL(s) in a new message here.

There are typically red circles that the symbol of the ore turns into, and if inside the circle there is a yellow dot, then you know there is a node there.
Once agai, I cant seem to see if or not there are those red circles when I fly close to them. The symbol (Green symbol for Saronite) simply stays there.
I think that the problem is that the data base is bugged becuase when you do find an ore those red circles are saved, and form what I can see there are none.

Simply click the checkbox to "Load Out of Date" AddOns in the main WoW AddOns Control Panel.

Gatherer should work just fine if/when you disable it, then re-enable it at another time.
All of the nodes are stored completely separately than the actual "program" portion, so even deleting Gatherer itself, from AddOns, and then re-installing should leave you with exactly the nodes you had beforehand.
If that is not happening, then you have some other issue happening causing the data to become corrupt. No matter the cause, our Wiki describes the steps to take to automatically backup all of your AddOn data, stored down within the WTF directory. See http://wiki.norganna.org/Auctioneer/Backup for more. As noted, simply select the entire WTF rather than needlessly picking from the various saved variables.
