Have you ever felt like the popular internet phrase "die in a fire" is just too time-consuming to type out? Have you yearned for a simpler way to tell those around you just how you feel?
Fret no longer!
DIAF is a simple addon which adds a new emote: /diaf
If you are targetting someone or something, you (and all nearby members of your faction) will see:
hopes dies in a fire.
If you have no target or are targeting yourself, this will be broadcast:
hopes you all die in a fire.
Due to limitations on cross-faction communications, members of the opposite faction will see:
makes some strange gestures.
Please note: I am not responsible for any damage to your reputation or account, or any corrective action taken by Blizzard or others, should they decide that your use of this addon constitutes harassment. Don't be annoying. This addon was created as a joke, so please keep that in mind.
Originally posted by Cairenn I considered moving it to the ROFL category when I initially approved it and decided to let it go. As for the "quality" of it or whatever, /shrug. Someone finds it useful, so good for them. If you don't, then simply don't use it.
Thanks, Cairenn.
If it would be better to move it, then I'm fine with that. I saw that category more as "unrelated to WoW" stuff (Bejeweled, for example) and this one as things which are more game-related but still hard to categorize. I'll resubmit it there if you want, or it can be moved if that would clear up some confusion.
Alright boys and girls, that's enough. I considered moving it to the ROFL category when I initially approved it and decided to let it go. As for the "quality" of it or whatever, /shrug. Someone finds it useful, so good for them. If you don't, then simply don't use it. You guys darn well know better than to flame on this site. If you want to do that, take it somewhere else, it isn't welcome here and well you know it. Behave, the lot of you.

This addon is not a minigame; it is a miscellaneous addon for the WoW interface, and is therefore (in my opinion) categorized properly. However, thank you for your interest and for the link to the "Mini Games" category.
note the "/ROFL" and most of the addons not being games but funny stuff.

If we're going to talk about quality of addons we could have a field day with yours.
I want to see references to lines in my code or you talk smack. At least whenever I post a negative comment I know what I'm talking about (technically).
I don't see any issues in my portal saying my addons are unusable either, fire away mister random :-) (no really, I'm interested as to why you think stuff I make is bad and others' are better).
I was unaware that all addons need to be so useful that they revolutionize the way people use computers (or play an online video game, which is the reason this very site exists). Entertainment, it seems, is irrelevant. This addon is for entertainment value only. If you don't enjoy entertainment and need something more utilitarian, look elsewhere.

True. However, the discussion which inspired me to spend 2 minutes writing this was about the perceived need for a more legitimate /diaf emote, rather than a macro button. Emotes, as I'm quite sure you're aware, typically are not keybound or placed on action bars, and this more closely emulates that behavior.

I fail to see the portion of this website which has held anyone at gunpoint to install this addon. You've made your opinion of this addon and this meme clear, so uninstall the addon and go whine elsewhere to someone who has a desire to listen to you.

However way you swing it, the question of quality is irrelevant - as is the addon - when a macro (with essentially the same code!) does the same job:
/script SendChatMessage("hopes "..((UnitName("target") and UnitName("target") ~= UnitName("player")) and UnitName("target").." dies" or "you all die").." in a fire.", "EMOTE")
you know just before an expansion of wow, wowinterface has this thing where addon authors get keys for the beta for the new expansion to test their addons and fix them for the new (usually addon breaking) patch? At that time there are a lot of "nobodies" whom we have never seen before that go and upload their 3 line "addons" in the hope of getting a key.
I don't know how much energy and time you put into this and I'm sorry to say it but I find this addon somewhat of the same quality.
