DESCRIPTION

As a hunter and since WotLK i often have to switch between arrows/bullets depending on whether i'm on an achievement boss or trashes, switching between engineering ammos or the Timeless stuff.

Having huge memory issues (yeah well a hunter isn't supposed to be smart, is he ?) i keep forgetting to switch back and find myself out of those precious engineering ammos because i wasted them all on trashes.

So, what this addon will do is pretty simple, it will equip you with those engineering ammos once you target a boss, worldboss, and then switch you back automatically to the normal arrows once you're on trashes or anything else.
If you run out of engineering ammos on a boss it will fall back to the normal ammos

Any kind of feedback/bug report is welcome, if more features should be added, i'll see what i can do within the limits of my knowledge.

On the PTR, Blizzard has not done away with ammunition; they have done away with the need for a quiver or ammo pouch. On the PTR, you can stack ammo to 1k, and the buff that the quivers/ammo pouches gave you are given to hunters in their autoshot. Not sure about the other classes that can use them.

Indeed, it will only switch for bosses/worldbosses. there's no bosses in heroics.

Tested this in DTK today.
Regular Frostbite Bullets in Quiver
Mammoth Cutters in regular bags.
Targeted first boss, no switch. Tried switching myself, but it appeared cSmartAmmo switched back to Frostbite. Am i doing something wrong?

I'm gonna leave this addon in its current state for mainly two reason.

1. I don't spend a lot of time on target dummies, i don't use the boss one, and even if i do, a few arrows less isn't gonna hurt my wallet.

Maybe to get around the fact that people might not want it switching to engineering ammo on target dummies you could perhaps make the addon check to see if the player is in a raid group before doing the auto switching?

Not sure what changed, but now it always forces the best ammo to equip, reguardless of what you target.

thanks a lot for the changes

About disabling, it's for a very particular situation: when I'm in Ironforge and want to test a new template/ability on the dummies, I do not want to use saronite arrows on the boss dummy... Not particularly essential, sure, but it would allow me to not have to reload the interface (with tons of addons) just for that.

I've added a fallback to Frostbite Bullets or Terrorshaft arrows if nothing else is found, guess that's what you're asking. (i'll upload after some more testing)

About the switch, could you explain me why you'd want to turn it 'off' ?

Very useful

Thanks for this very useful addon. My only remark will be that not everyone has been able to raise the eternal stuff reputation, so if you could add somewhere a little condition to make the arrows swap between classic arrows/saronite stuff/eternal stuff depending on what is actually present in the bags it would be great, as for now I have to edit the lua to make the changes manually.

Oh, an another little wish: a console command to switch the addon on/off
