AlphaMap Early Beta
Early Beta with Dungeon Locations moved to a separate plugin AddOn.

"_Utilities" Plugin for display of locations with Flight Masters, MailBoxes, Repair facilities on Zone maps;
And extra info on City maps of Banks / Auction Houses and Anvils/Forges....

Off the top of my head, I don't think this has anything to do with MapNotes, so I wouldn't delete those SavedVariables if I were you.


EDIT: Yup, there is a graphic file missing from AlphaMap Utilities plugin... will fix. Thx for the info

I am going to reinstall ALphaMap and MapNotes and clean saved Variables ( all my notes *sniff* ). See if this comes up again. ( these are only map modification addons I use atm ).

EDIT:

Ok I tested AlphaMap alone ( not other addons and fresh install/clean variables ). Problem is persistent. PvP objectives aren't the only ones that mess up. Other POIs like Stromwind , Shattarah are also missing their Icons ( these would be the POI icons that AlphaMap puts on the map)

Nope I haven't messed with pause option since I installed Beta 8.

Sounds odd - PvP objectives in AlphaMap are displayed in the same way as they are on the WorldMap using textures supplied by the game itself. (e.g. the Tower icons). Green icon-less textures are usually caused by a faulty install of an AddOn where it can't find the icon pictures it needs - but as AlphaMap doesn't supply these textures itself, it should never have trouble finding them.

Does this only happen when the AlphaMap is paused?

Are you saying that the MapNotes icons are randomly changing, or AlphaMap icons?


Some screen shots might be useful if you can manage it.

It sounds more and more like you have a rather corrupted installation of one or more AddOns.

Outland PvP objectives

Heya

Thanks for working on this project. The Outland PvP objectives act a little wierd for me. I reinstalled ALphaMap Beta 8 from scratch and PvP Objectives (around Auchindoun ) were shown as a green icon-less textures. I installed MapNotes later and now the icons change randomly every time I open the map ( Terrokar Forest ). Is this behavior intended or is it because I deleted old files before installing Beta 8?

Thanks for all your help testing the AlphaMap Beta

Sadly, I really can't think why the Atlas option you mentioned is causing problems for AlphaMap.

I can imagine that when you open the Atlas map - then it could cause the AlphaMap to change... But I can't imagine why having Atlas's AutoSelect option checked would cause AlphaMap to constantly change up to a world zone/continent map all the time...

(Are you using any special Atlas plugins like AtlasWorld or AtlasMajorCities...?)


Anyway, I think there are so many important updates in the latest Beta that I might have to release it anyway...

We're talkin' about "Auto-Select Instance Map". If this option is selected, also alpha map begins to auto select maps.

The other problems we were talkin about have nothing to do with that.

Attempt to correct positioning of MobMap dots...

I don't think Atlas is changing the map at all (unless using Right-Clicks to open the WorldMap), so I'm left wondering if it is a more complex incompatibility involving AlphaMap + Atlas + something else...
(AlphaMap_MajorCities?)
i.e. is the error still happening with only AlphaMap and Atlas enabled?

[Which Atlas Option are we talking about anyway?]

Maybe it's not an alpha map problem and the atlas option works in a way which is not correct?

Thanks for all the extra information

I will try and investigate this further in the next couple of days...

AlphaMap uses the following 'type' of script to check where you are when you enter an Instance :

/script DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage( GetRealZoneText() )

And the returned text needs to agree with what AlphaMap has in its localisation.de.lua file.

For example, to display the correct map when you enter "Gun'Drak", then the above script should say :

GunDrak

(i.e. no apostrophe)
If GetRealZoneText() returns "Gun'Drak" or "Das Gun'Drak" or something else, then AlphaMap won't be able to display the correct map...

So for correct localisation I need to know what text is reported by the above script inside all the different Instances on each different language client. It needs to be EXACTLY alike, including special characters like 'umlauts', and making sure to include prefixes like "Das..." or "Der...", etc.


I will try to double check the German localisation file from the information available to me, but any localisation help is always welcome
