About a year ago I discovered the Add-On Polite Whisper which has now since made its way to the outdated mods section. An extended version was released some time ago which added the ability for custom messages which many user were dying for! This too has since gone obsolete.

Finally deciding to level my toons past 80 with the realease of Wrath I quickly discouvered that Polite Whisper was made for a WoW of a different time, which is when I decided to resurrect the project.

The wonderful original code base was developed by Hafaleil, and extended by Shen.
I do not claim any credit for their hard work.

Wrath Extended adds the following

Added support for all Wrath instances
Added Support for all Heroic Wrath instances as well as for the missing Burning Crusade instances
Raised the max level PW will accept to 80 to align with the new Wrath level cap
Added Death Knights (DK) to the searchable classes
Fixes an issue with running older versions of PW on Wrath that breaks previous versions.

I am going to be maintaining this mod as my own (though original credit goes to Hafaleil) So if there are any issues with it please let me know and I will fix it as soon as I can.

Known issues

Party tab still not functional fully. Will hopefully develop further in subsequent releases. Was never finished in original Extended release.

Here is the description from the original Polite Whisper.

Suppose you need to find a couple more people to do a dungeon run, but there's no one looking in the automated LFG, your guild is busy, and none of your friends are on. You may even have asked in general chat, on the trade channel, and yelled in a major city, but no one is responding.

The last resort, we all know, is doing a /who and whispering people who would compliment the group you have already. Sending a lot of whispers is easy with cut and paste, but keeping track of the replies is enough to drive you mad. This mod does all of these things and helps you keep organized. It makes sure you don't ask anyone twice and that no response gets lost in the flood of replies.

Other features include:

A do not invite list, so you don't bother whispering those people you'd rather not group with.
A drop-down list of dungeons. The mod automatically fills in appropriate levels for each.
Pops up a warning if you accidentally group with someone on your do not invite list (in case you're not the leader or you join someone else's group).
Buttons for common responses, like 'No problem. Sorry to have bothered you.' and a description of the classes and levels you have so far in your group.
A button to remember a custom question you ask everyone before inviting them. Perhaps whether they are attuned or have some needed equipment.
A small chat window for talking to one user at a time, without the clutter of incoming messages from other respondees.
Option of viewing a user's guild name instead of their zone (if you prefer that sort of thing).
(Untested) co-operation with CensusPlus, if you use that mod.

Notes:

Type '/pw' to pull up Polite Whisper or click the PW button next to your mini-map.
Users in dungeons or battlegrounds will not show up in searches, to keep you from pestering people who are busy.
PW will not pester anyone again who has responded to an earlier whisper. PW will re-add players who do not respond for 10 minutes (5 minutes if they were AFK at the time of the first whisper) to the list and allow you to pester them again.

Line 1347 of PoliteWhisper.lua reads: for i = 1, 3 it should be changed to for i = 1, 4 This part of the code creates a table of all non-dungeon/non-bg zones and uses it as a filter so you don't whisper people in those areas. Working on it

Extended release was localized to German, Italian and French; however, I made a number of changes to the variables and names so I removed it until I can go over it all again. Hoping to do that soon. If you want to give me a hand send me a message!

I can see how this may be a concern - granted it will still only allow you to whisper each player once an hour. Besides - there are several other mods out there that make it much easier than this to spam. If it does become an issue its definatly some I would be willing to try to remedy. Appreciate the concern and comment.

Only one concern, the original did NOT have modifiable messages, and i think that was perhaps for the best. I'm concerned this may be used as a spamming addon if you can just say whatever you want. The fact that the whisper was always polite made the first half of its name relevant at all times. That said, thankyouthankyouthankyou for updating this addon, it has saved many a group run for me in the past.
