Sample of the text files
Sound commands for every sound updated for Wrath   Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Technically this isn't an addon. It's a zip that contains 2 text files that between them list the /script commands to play almost any sound in game.

If it was in the MPQ files then there should be a /script command to play them. From 25 man raid bosses to the sound a Gnome Male makes when dying.

I've also included instructions on how to do this yourself if I ever drop off the face of the earth

Instructions for use

1) Unzip the zip file

2) Open up "wowsoundsupdateto32.txt" using Word, Wordpad, Notepad or any decent text editor.

3) Use Control-F ie the Find function to find what you need.

3) Copy that /script command with Control-C (copy)

4) Switch to the game

5) Press Enter to bring up a chat box

6) Control - V to Paste it in.

7) Press return. The sound should play

These script commands can also be used in Macros

Now before posting in the comments about looking for a sound please make the effort to find it first.

I'm not trying to be mean or rude it's just that I might not always have the time to find it for you. I might not even be able to login to the game to test that I've found the right sound for you as I could be answering posts at work. Try searching on the NPC name or alternatives of the NPC name. Don't be afraid to try ones you think it is. Once you've exhausted all reasonable avenues to find it yourself then post and I'm sure someone will be happy to help

I've spot checked a few but haven't tested every single /script command I've listed here. Let me know if some aren't working for you.

My Favourites :

/script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\NPCGhoul\\NPCGhoulVendor04.wav")
/script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\NPCGeist\\NPCGeistVendor04.wav")

v3.2.1 Much help from Eisa in getting Creature\LichKing sounds properly extracted. Had to relearn how to do this lol. Also reworked version history. Thanks for the assistance Eisa

Woops.

I meant AudioX

@Psylencer

I can find 102 (!) sounds when I search under "barak". Could be one of those. I would suggest using the SoundX addon to browse them quickly

@cag8f

Rolled an orc in order to listen to what the sound sounds like. I've searched under Blood , Fury , Enrage and Orc and have no clue where it is.

It might be one of those sounds that is used by many abilities in the game so instead of duplicating the sound they just use the generic name it is based off.

I honestly have no clue as how to find it. You might want to install the SoundX addon and have a wee play. Post back here when you do find it.

Great work on the list. But I've searched and searched for the sound for the Orc racial ability "Blood Fury" and can't find it. Any help would be awesome.

Well I can't confirm which one but have you tried searching on "Hound" ?

I can see some sounds there but can't confirm which one it is at the moment (need to jump in the shower to go Shopping )

I'm sorry about this but if you use the addon my friend come up with :

http://www.wowinterface.com/download...oXII.html#info

You can use that to explore and play them in game. As well as display the sound patch to them

I've not tried this myself, because I've never found the need to. But here goes:

Method A:
Try Sound Intercept mod. Hopefully it still works in 3.2. More details on how to edit it here

Method B:
IMPORTANT: The following is based on How to disable giant pet footstep sound and New Annoying Aggro Sound !. I'm unsure of Blizzards stance on this type of non-Interface\Addon modding. If you aren't sure that Blizzard are okay with replacing samples this way, then I'd suggest you ticket a GM or post on the official UI forums to get an official response. It's unlikely Blizzard would see this in the same light as replacing client-side models... but who knows?! Better to be safe than sorry.

Place the replacement sample into World of Warcraft\Data\Sound\<path>\<file> where <path> is the rest of the original PlaySoundFile path and <file> is the exact name of the sample you wish to replace.

So if you were replacing Sound\Character\BloodElf\BloodElfMaleHello02.wav, you'd need to place your replacement sample (named BloodElfMaleHello02.wav) into World of Warcraft\Data\Sound\Character\BloodElf\

In this case you need to place deathknight_iceboundfortitudeStand.wav in World of Warcraft\Data\Sound\Spells\

Note: You need to be exact with naming. Any typo and it won't work. You may need to use the same capitalisation too (not sure).
