Bing

About Bing:
Some quests and achievements can be very tedious. Especially when you have to keep focused on your tooltips the whole time to find the objective.

Whether you are looking for a single person out of a large crowd, or you are just out doing your dailys and looking for herbs. Bing helps speed your search process.
Simply type /bing followed by your query and Bing will search every tooltip upon mouseover of a target. If it is a match you will hear a light audible que, along with seeing the result in your chat frame.
This way you will be able to be less distracted by your tooltips and more focused on what you are searching for.

Useful Searches:
/Bing Requires Herbalism
/Bing Everfrost
/Bing Blood Elf Warlock
/Bing Baron
Current Features:
  • Able to search for any text found in a tooltip
  • Able to search for players and npcs found in the combat log
  • Plays a light tone when a query is matched
  • Shows the result in the chatlog

Requirements:
  • Query only matches text contained in the GameTooltip or Combat Log
  • Does not match item or spell searches

Slash Commands:
  • /Bing (resets query)
  • /Bing <query> (searches for query)

I've been testing mods for years, thanks .

Tested again; yes, some other mod I'm running "stops" Bing's custom WAV from playing. I'll get around to finding out which it is when I have some copious free time to spare.

The only mods I've yet tried in WoW 3.1 that are supposed to produce sounds but do not are this one and LookFor (in combination with other mods). Every other mod I regularly run--such as BigWigs, BugSack, BanzaiAlert, EventAlert (which uses built-in WoW sounds), the pre-3.0 The Clap and so on--don't have any issues playing their custom sounds either alone or in combination. So testing priority to see what "interferes" with Bing isn't high.

I told you the search details initially used (yes, case & using GameTooltip were accounted for & chat feedback was received). Good luck.

Sounds like another addon may be interfering with the GameTooltip.
Disable all addons except for Bing. If it works, then begin enabling half of your addons at a time until you have isolated the one causing the issue.

Things to note:
1. Bing scans 'GameTooltip' only.
2. Bing searches are case-sensitive.
2. Bing does send an alert into your chat frame when it finds something.

This first appeared to be a more streamlined, modern alternative to LookFor 4.0.

But in testing here, Bing seems to share the same problem LookFor has had since WoW 3.1.1: no sound occurs when mousing over a set target. Because the sound alert is the only alert Bing gives, it is effectively useless here.

Bing v3.1.2.1, USEnglish client/server, WoW 3.1.3 live, all sound enabled (Sound Effects, Error Speech, Emote Sounds, Enable Pet Sounds, Ambient Sounds) except for "Music", which is disabled. Using TinyTip & tekKompare, which don't affect (most) mods using the GameTooltip. In Ironforge, set a few different things for it to look for in separate tests: "/Bing Mailbox", "/Bing Auctioneer", "/Bing Brazier", various other player's names and so on. Confirmation that the strings were set properly appeared in chat.

But at no time did the Bing.wav file/sound occur mousing over the target(s).

Have no issues with normal in-game sound here when its enabled as per the above. BigWigs and other mods calling their own sound files have no problems.

Lookfor can alert you in other ways (scrolling text, etc.), so its still usable without its sounds. But Bing doesn't seem to work at all.
