Oh noes, tah queues!
OhNoesQueues   Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
As the name suggests, this mod is all about improving the handling of battleground queues.
It removes the bg-description text in the battlegrounds-frame and replaces it with something actually useful: Colored join buttons!

One for each battleground, you can easily click them to (group or solo) join for the bg you like, port when it's ready or just leave the active queue. Extra color goodness helps you identify the status easily:
  • no border: join me! (leftclick: group/solo, rightclick: solo)
  • yellow border: queueing (rightclick: leave queue)
  • red border: battleground is ready, port me! (leftclick: port, rightclick: leave)
  • green border: currently active (leftclick: scoreboard, rightclick: leave)

As an extra feature, your Marks of Honor and your win-statistics are displayed below!
If there's a battleground holiday today, the corresponding button reflects this: you should see some kind of rectangles around it.

In addition, your Wintergrasp marks and shards are displayed next to the counter.

Note: As this is the first update, I'd like to get some resonance from you! Please report all bugs you encounter or feature requests you have.
  Change Log - OhNoesQueues
Version 1.4
* display win statistics
* wintergrasp marks and shards display
* left-click in active battleground toggles scoreboard (veselu)
- fix: holiday-indicator (veselu)
- fix: expiration time (veselu)
- fix: only group-join when party leader

Version 1.3
- included wait and port times (thanks veselu!)
- tooltip now updates automatically

Version 1.2

- some code cleanup
- battleground-holiday indicators, yay!

Thanks for your lots of feature ideas. While they are really nice and I certainly would use them, too, I don't think that they fit in as a part of OhNoesQueues. My addon is rather about simplifying the queueing process and to provide simple stats for choosing which BG to use.
Since I don't want to make this addon into a full-blown PvP-suite (ya know, the memory-minimalists are shouting in the back ), your feature-requests would better fit into a new, separate addon.

If I had enough time, I would make such an addon, but at the moment I'm very busy - both in rl as with other addons of mine. Maybe another author could help you a bit

This is a nice, useful addon - I use it all the time; thanks for providing it!

Here's a feature request:

Title: BG summarizer

Description: Once inside a BG, it provides a summary of the composition of both teams to allow for a quick assessment so that the proper group assignments (e.g. a balance of healers in each) and strategy can be made.

Behavior: For each faction show the totals of
- each class
- probable healers (maybe easiest just to guess from the mana pool size)
- raw number from each server (to determine the likelihood of a premade)

Bonus feature
- store the contents of the ending BG stats. I'd love to be able to analyze these for a couple of purposes. 1) To determine who, in our premade, is pulling their weight and who needs improvement; 2) To see who the threats are (this is likely more of a long term stats issue as I have no idea of the population size being sampled); 3) To keep a black list of the AFKers and nuisance players (there is of course a UI associated with that ) - ideally, it would inform me of such players as they enter the BG.

Obviously, I take PvP too seriously...

By the way, I agree completely with your thinking on resource consumption. Memory is generally not a problem (and it is cheap these days) - cpu load sometimes is; more often than not, I've found the biggest FPS issue to be the GPU on the graphics card.

I like the direction youre taking this....this is quickly becoming a major addon for me...to the point where I really wish Blizzard would implement it standard. There is no reason for the bg text. :/

It is not my main goal to achieve minimal resource comsumption and it never was (well, 2 years ago maybe). My general design principle for my addons is to find a good balance between feature-richness and minimalism in resources.

If I come across a nice feature a lot people would be using, I would include it, even if it increases the memory usage about 10 kb or more. With a "simple config GUI" I don't mean some huge Ace-config where you can control every detail like the colors of the text or the size of the icons, but just some control that people can switch off text displays they don't need.

You'll tend to hear it a lot: It's not about memory, but about CPU-cycles. Memory is only important for the initial loading process in the loading screen - and there I keep most things from being executed until you use them (e.g. the buttons/texts are first generated when you open the PvP-frame).

Sorry for the critical and long answer, but in the last time I get a lot of similar comments in all of my addons and I want to clarify that I'm not a pure memory-minimalist anymore.
Nevertheless, you can't expect it to ever go above 50 kb - even with a small config. So don't panic, things are under control

Don't forget the main goal! Minimal resource consumption. It's one of the best things in your great addon.

Thanks!
I'm currently working on version 2.0 which makes things a lot more flexible and has the possibility to switch preset text outputs. At the moment only in Lua, but I try to find some config GUI which is simple and allows easy switching - maybe a button acting as a dropdown menu or something similar.
A tooltip is already implemented in the unreleased version.

I'm already thinking about methods to enhance the display size to get bigger numbers displayed. It's especially necessary for Cataclysm with 1-2 more battlegrounds. Current idea is to make a new, additional tab frame which features the battlegrounds in vertical order, with text right next to them. Maybe also honor stats display above/below, so you won't need to switch tabs for viewing your honor data.

I love the idea and the style of gui. Keep up your great work.

About the appearance of the win/loss ratio, how about a small button (or click on the №%) to switch the view from % to actual win/loss numbers. The only problem with that is if someone has like over 100. It would then become too big. But, perhaps smaller numbers like wins are on top and losses are under the wins... Or even more simple, a tooltip with actual win/loss numbers when hovering over the % ratio?

I'll think about this one

-----
Woah, seems like I really need to include some kind of toggle for the different infos - currently working on some exp-per-bg display that would also need some space

I don't consider another location, because I want the design to be simple and not cluttered.
Perhaps an option to swap the win/loss ratio with it then?

Great addon...just what I was looking for. It got old fast having to look at the currency tab every time I needed to know how many of each mark i had.

Any way to show what the average wait time for a bg queue is? It would be nice to see how long I have to wait before it -can- pop.

Nice idea, I'm going to implement it in a tooltip when you hover the win/loss stats.

Nice addon was pretty much just what I was looking for. Haven't had any problems yet and I do alot of Bgs on several characters.

A request though, to have the option to show stats for Bgs like 89 wins/ 160 games played, something like that if possible. I'm grinding rep and curious to see how many Bgs I actually go to.

You could open core.lua with your favourite text editor and replace all "RightButton" with "LeftButton" and vice versa.

But it's not likely that I include an option for this one in a further update, sorry.
