An Addon for World of Warcraft by Leatrix

What does it do?

Leatrix Text allows you to hide various text messages in the error and zone frames in order to provide a more clutter-free playing area. It also allows you to change the size of the text in the quest log detail frame.

The following text can be hidden easily with Leatrix Text:

Information text (such as quest progress)
System text
Error text (such as 'Not enough rage')
Zone text (such as 'Ironforge')
Subzone text (such as 'Mystic Quarter')

You can add your own errors to an exclusion list if you want to so that they are shown every time.

Leatrix Text can be configured using an options panel or command switches. The options you choose are saved to your whole account so you don't need to configure the addon for each character.

Options

You can access the options panel by typing /ltx, or by navigating through the normal interface options menu.

There are 7 options (as shown here) and I'll explain them in more detail below.

Hide information text
Hides quest updates and other useful information. I like to leave this unchecked.

Hide system text
Hides system text, better to leave this unchecked unless you need the space.

Hide error text
Hides error text (such as 'Not enough rage'). This is a really useful feature as almost all error messages are worthless.

Show important errors
When this is checked, 'Inventory is full' and 'Your quest log is full' will always be shown regardless of the setting for 'Hide error text'. Leave this checked if you want to see those messages.

Hide zone text
Hides zone text (such as 'Ironforge'). I think most people can check this option.

Hide subzone text
Hides subzone text (such as 'Mystic Quarter'). Again, zone text isn't really needed so it's better to check this option. Your location is shown above the minimap anyway.

Resize quest log detail text
Allows you to resize the quest log detail text to the font size set using the slider control underneath. If you open your quest log while the options panel is showing, you can see the results in realtime as you drag the font size slider left and right. Unchecking this option sets the font size back to the default value of 12. Note that this also affects a couple of similar windows (such as the gossip window and Dungeon Finder window).

Error Exclusions

There are two settings in the options panel relating to errors. The 'Hide error text' option hides all errors. The 'Show important errors' option will always show 'Inventory is full' and 'Your quest log is full' regardless of whether you have errors hidden or not.

If you want certain errors to be shown every time regardless of the 'Hide error text' option, you can add them to an exclusion list. You manage the exclusion list using the /ltx command as shown below.

/ltx [error]
Adds an error to the exclusion list (eg. '/ltx not enough rage'). This error will then be shown every time, regardless of the 'Hide error text' setting in the options panel. Attempting to add an error that already exists will remove it from the exclusion list. Letter case can be ignored.

You can specify wildcards simply by entering part of the error (eg. '/ltx not enough' will show all errors that begin with 'not enough').

/ltx list
Lists the errors currently in the exclusion list.

/ltx clear
Clears all the entries in the exclusion list.

Command Switches

In addition to the options panel, you can configure Leatrix Text using the following command switches.

/ltx
Shows the options panel.

/ltx [type] [action]
Show, hide or toggle text
'Type' can be error, info, system, zone or subzone.
'Action' can be show, hide or toggle.
For example, you can use '/ltx error show' to enable error text or '/ltx subzone toggle' to toggle subzone text.

/ltx help
Shows the command switches available.

The toggle feature is useful if you put it in a macro. What you can do is hide all error text using the options panel, and create a macro containing "/ltx error toggle" (without quotes). Then, as you're playing, if you think an error is trying to be shown, you can just click the macro button and the errors will show up. Click it again and the errors will be gone. Simple!

As far as I know, it's impossible to remove that text using conventional addons because the text is rendered in the game world. If you really want to remove it, you might try an approach like this, but be sure to read and understand the entire thread first.

I have one question though -for years I have been looking for a way to hide the incredibly ugly and annoying Blizzard default experience text (ie. XP:100). It's in the middle of the screen, can't be changed or moved in any way. What I'd like to do is just disable it altogether, but never found a way to do it. Have you maybe any idea how to achieve that? I would be eternally grateful.

Question; would you consider adding an option to hide the duel messages in Dalaran? (Not duel requests, but the "such and such has beaten such and such in a duel" ones.) I simply hate being in Dalaran because of those spammy messages. I dunno why Blizz added those in the System messages. Seems like a tarded place to put them since you can't use the default settings to hide/filter those without hiding all system messages. I just have one request, in the event you ever plan on making it a little larger: Make the text frame moveable - so the few messages we let through don't get smack-dab in the middle of our UI's All said though, thanks for this and your incredible latency fix script!
