Tidy Plates: Threat Plates - Version 8.5



About:
Tidy Plates: Threat Plates (TPTP for short) is a theme for use with Tidy Plates with patch 5.0.4 or later WoW client. It offers a high amount of customization and tweaks to how your nameplates react and look. It also offers some unique features that are not available with any other nameplate addon. I've spent a considerable amount of time improving this addon and any comments or concerns about this addon are appreciated. I'm always looking for ways to improve this addon.
Features:
  • SharedMedia support and many, many, options for name, health, level, and spell text. As well as all of the standard nameplate features such as castbar and icon, elite icons / textures, skull icons / textures, raid marks, and healthbar coloring/alpha/scale.
  • Ace3 profiling.
  • Low memory footprint.
  • Threat system management.
  • Automatic talent detection and role assigning for an easy out of the box setup.
  • Customizable widgets.
  • Customizable totem nameplates.
  • Customizable nameplates for extra customization for specifically named units.
Commands:

  • /tptptoggle - Toggle Role from one to the other.
  • /tptpdps - Toggles DPS/Healing threat plates.

Additional Information:
A considerable amount of information about options and its internal priorities are not gone into details. Most options that are enable or disable based will toggle off options that are no longer changeable once enabled or disabled. Yeah, I released an alpha where it's working already, but I did not find the time to finsh it. v8.6. which will contain it will probably take two more weeks to finish. So, I think it's best to disable it until v8.6. is release. Sorry for that.

I figured it'd be done by now, but now I'm getting antorus users complaining DBM no longer works with tidy plates, so I might disable the pass on for now and use internal handling again until it's properly implimented

Glad I checked this, so I should go ahead and add TPTP global to DBM so DBM passes it to you and doesn't double up and run internal code as well.

and done, now if you use latest alpha, DBM will trust you to handle it, and not run any of it's internal nameplate code at all. Now you get to do all fun stuff, test the enable/disable call backs, etc.
Great. I'll do that. It's basically working right now, even in raids (with some local changes to DBM). Still have to improve the performance though. Plan is to integrate it into the 8.6 release (with ETA currently).

Glad I checked this, so I should go ahead and add TPTP global to DBM so DBM passes it to you and doesn't double up and run internal code as well.

and done, now if you use latest alpha, DBM will trust you to handle it, and not run any of it's internal nameplate code at all. Now you get to do all fun stuff, test the enable/disable call backs, etc.

I started to working on supporting this feature now. Is there any easy way to test it (like a button for showing test icons like there is for other DMB UI elements)? Going into LFR to test it is to really fun

The end result is, now blizzard gutted nameplates too. Blizzard wasn't mad at bigwigs and DBM for what they did, and would have left nameplates alone if Exorsus hadn't tried to get clever and use them to bring back a feature blizzard intentionally removed.
I did not know that. There were some requests to implement these features (anchoring DMB/BW stuff) some time ago, but before I had the time to look into it, Blizzard removed the possibility . Still, interesting to know what was possible.

I still think Blizzard should have found another solution than to disable all nameplate addons in raid environments for friendly units. But it was the easiest solution, I guess.

Yeah, I just think it was the easiest solution for them for the problem (that boss mods used nameplates for highlighting certain things).
When I originally created Threat Plates back when I was breaking world firsts in Ulduar, one of my biggest features was custom nameplates.

Really made visibility for special mobs amazing.

Miss having the time to really enjoy my mod.

Well, that's a change Blizzard introduced with 7.2. You cannot use custom nameplates anymore for friendly units in dungeons and raids. Blizzard did that to prevent some use in raids that they didn't like (DBM, for instance, used nameplates to anchor debuffs and arrows on players that had to move).

There's nothing I can do about that. It does not work, to my knowledge, for any other nameplate addon either.
