gTip
Version: 1.271
by: Goldpaw [More]
What is this?
  • Yet another tooltip addon. It is dependent on gMedia which must be downloaded separately!

What does it do?
  • Reskin the game tooltips
  • Moves the tooltip healthbars inside the frame
  • Colors character names by class
  • Colors unit names by faction standing
  • Colors pet names by happiness
  • Colors unit level by quest difficulty (makes stuff 10 levels above you red, etc etc)
  • Allows you to choose between anchoring all tooltips to the curser, only unit tooltips, or none at all
  • Can hide the tooltips when engaged in combat

How can I configure it?
  • /gtip

It's not working!

What is the name of the UI and Addons in your screenshots?
  • gUI
1.271
- Fixed the same nil error regarding "color" as I fixed in 1.24. For some reason.... it had been reverted...?...?

1.27
- Now uses the global SHOW_TOOLTIPS_IN_COMBAT to set tooltip visibility for other gMods as well
- Healthbars are now positioned beneath the tooltip

1.26
- Tooltips are now by default shown while in combat. Users which had a previous version of gTip needs to update this setting themselves.

1.24
- Fixed a nil error regarding the "color" value in line 133 that would sometimes occur at startup

1.23
- Now has a minimum width for the unit tooltips
- Hides the health value text on units with 0 health

1.221
- gLib 2.41

1.22
- Now uses gLib 2.4
- Now has the option to display values on the health bars

1.21
- Now has the option to show titles
- Now has the option to show crossrealm server names
- Bottomright position now changes based on number of visible actionbars

1.2
- Icons for itemtooltips
- Class color on names
- Difficulty color on levels
- Now shows target of target, with a red ">> YOU <<" if you're the target
- Added the option to anchor unit tooltips to the cursor, but not other tooltips
- Now also skins dropdown lists, dropdown menus, chat menus and the title picker frame
- Now uses gMedia2 and gLib2
- Now embeds gLib2
- Now uses gLibs localization handler

1.1
- gTip now has an Interface Options menu
- The option to re-anchor the tooltip to the default position has been added. Will be above the Loot-frame if gUI is loaded.
- The option to hide tooltips while being engaged in combat has been added

1.03
- Unregisters events when no longer needed

1.02
- Rescales itself to retain perfect borders according to UIscale

1.01
- Added some brackets to a true/false check

Language change

Hello,

I have the same problem as mgssidley, after login my undead rogue speaks gutterspeak.

I disabled all addons but gtip (v1.4.9), glib (v2.6.29) and gmedia2 (v2.4.4).

The language change only occures after login and on my undead toon. After /rl he speaks orcish again.

In addition I really like the disable tooltip in combat feature and would like to see a little addition to it to make it perfect :
Could you add an option so gtip shows tooltips in combat if I use a modifier like shift

Thanks in advance

good day
Your work is great. But it seems that it does not work with addon Critline Tooltip.
Here http://www.wowinterface.com/download...neTooltip.html
Um, I do not know

Also, is there any way to scale the tooltip up? It's very tiny for me and text is hard to read :/ And I wouldn't want to use different font, I really like my current one.
If needed, I can provide screenshots of both of these problems.
Screenshots not needed.

That tooltips doesn't scale was intended, but a decision I've regretted since. Expect it changed in a future version.

Healthbars are intended to be outside. I suddenly changed my mind and decided I liked that more. I will change the screenshots with the next upload to reflect this.

I'm currently in the process of rewriting all my addons, and scaling is a major issue. Everything I write will scale properly with the UIscale in the next updates.

This is my fav tip addon for sure tho its basic and doesn't have a billion extra features that nobody uses thought i'd say thanks again goldpaw your work is awesome.
Yeah, you're totally right. The hand is right above the numbers. I'll change that.

gUI will just be a compilation of all my addons, plus a configuration module for the chat windows and some other things.

Once all of my addons are available here, I'll post it in my author's portal.

Those are good suggestions.
