Clean Icons - Original  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: v4.3 Build (15211)
by: suicidalkatt [More]
I got tired of seeing old pre-BC styled icons mixed with BC and WoTLK icons so I decided to batch process all the icons into a clean format.

...icons have been altered.

This may seem like a large filesize, however this does not use any cpu usage or additional memory usage than simply running without it.

This also extends to any addon that uses the default game icons such as Power Auras Classic.

>> Install to: Interface\Icons <<

With source I meant the base of your work: icons as *.png images converted from the *.blp's so that others can start more easily creating a new/own icon-style. I didn't want to burden you with another icon pack to maintain and just use a base you already have without more work spent on this.

But I see you already followed my request, thank you. Your service is really appreciated.

EDIT:
Oh an thanks for the hint to your approach, I somehow missed it before. Will play a bit with it and see what I get.

I was wondering if you could release some kind of "source" along with every release. What I mean is: I obviously suck at extracting, renaming, converting, etc. of all the icons if I try to apply my own style. So I would be really grateful if I would have at least a complete base of properly named and editable files (was it *.png for the Photoshop-steps?) to have less trouble during the process.

An alternative would be a third pack with a 2px black border and slightly zoomed icons to get some sort of "dreamlayout"-clone (was a button-style in an early bartender-version). A good example is *klick* but he stopped playing/updating.

But I appreciate your work whatever you do and accepting my request would just be a bonus! Keep up the good work.
Not exactly sure what you meant by "source". I go over the details of the process on my Clean Icons - Square comments.

Basically using the 'ExportInterfaceFiles art' console command I pulled out all the icons.

From there I used XnView to convert all the icons to PNG.

Using Photoshop, I created an action that would create a border and add effects to the image and export the image to another folder. Using the Automate tool in Photoshop I batch process the entire PNG icon folder.

Then with a tool called BLPConverter I convert all the exported PNGs to BLP.

Then using a file renaming tool I correct any file renames.

Edit: Just for future reference I use a folder comparing tool to compare build version icons so instead of completely redoing all the icons, I just look for the new icons and add them to the package.

Yay!

Been using the Square for the last few months. Just found this version today, and really appreciate it.

Thanks for your work, Katt!

This is exactly what I was hoping for when I commented on the Square version, but was so sure it would be too much work to ask!

Thanks very much!!

Will this get any updates in the near future or are you doing the square ones only?

Hi! I just did my own pack of icon replacements. Check them out: sil_ICON:SimpleSquareDK - Vanilla Icon Replacement Pack.

I don't have Photoshop so I had to go about it a bit differently.

What do you mean with "not working"?
If the Icons do not change from standard to the new border you might have not installed them correctly (Install to: Interface\Icons).

@ suicidalkatt:
The following icons are doubled (spelling mistakes):
Druid_Mangle.tga.blp
INV_Helmet_100.tga.blp

explanations of the steps you used in the process.

Thank you in advance and for the brilliant looking idea of the "addon"!
I really like the unified and clean look with these - great work so far.
Yea I started making an example and my wording went to crap... It really demands a lot from a non-photoshopper type.
