MaggzAutoLog

Version: 1.0.8
by: Maggz [More]

MaggzAutoLog Version 1.0.8

Simple addon to perform auto combat log enabling on entrance of an raid. I made this addon because i found several logging addon which where outofdate (loggerhead), or didnt function properly in all raids and all bosses (autolog). This addon is pretty simple in its coding and should always work even if loaded thru out of date addons if a patch or expansion changes things for other addons.

NEW VERSION 1.0.8
Updated for 5.2
fixed a miss labeled tooltip

Updated for 5.1
Setup DB for remembering if you want to log an instance (will remember your last logging state always)
Should have fixed the "log hiccups" people discussed.
Added in more control over what type of messages used to announce logging state.

Reworked ALOT of coding to FULLY support databroker display
Removed SEVERAL lines of coding to clean it up significantly.
Added minimap icon hide and show slash commands
If you need to access these new commands type /mal help or mal ? it will list them for you.
added message raid warning style.
removed debugging event. (sorry bout leaving that in there)
Tooltip changes upon right click for enabling and disabling.
icon now rememebers MiniMap position and will work within libDatabroker as well.
i tested this addon in a completely clean UI no addons and it works well, along with my number of addons,
however i do not use broker so if there is any issues please post a comment.
Contains icon state to monitor if your log is on or off in your minimap.
Also can enable and disable logging manually by left clicking the icon, right clicking send a text printout to your default chat window.

Still very easy to use, no setup at all, just download, install and enjoy.
Also still has the / commands of /mal and /maggzautolog to print logging state.

TODO:

work on localization setup......

Version 1.0.8
updated for 5.2 relevency
fix miss labeled tooltip

Version 1.0.7
updated toc for 5.1 relevency

Version 1.0.6
updated to work for MoP (minus world bosses -- still working on that tho IMO no one should be logging them anyhow.)
fixed it so that it will remember your previous logging state (IE if u enter a new instance and dont want to log that instance click disable and it will remember that, to start logging that simply re enable logging and it remembers all future runs in that instance)
this should also resolve the "log hiccups" people were describing

Version 1.0.5
FULLY supports DataBroker display now, with hiding original minimap icon
cleaned up ALOT of lines of code shortening the overal code
added a help list for slash commands used, accessed by /mal help or /mal ?

Version 1.0.4
added in raid style warning messages.
removed debug script.

Version 1.03
fixed reloadui and logout/login issue where if your currently in a raid instance and loggin is enabled, your icon would not change from grey to green unless u clicked it and changed it manually.

Version 1.0.2
Adder broker support
map icon now saves position
tooltip now changes to reflect the correct logging state

version 1.0.1
added minimap icon state button
retained / commands from version 1.0.0
added all Libs inside addon folder

Re: Re: Raids of any difficulty?

Not to mention it's easy enough to manage your logs after you've uploaded them instead of attempting to manage them ahead of time.

Or does it treat LFR, Normal and Heroic versions of the same raid as separate? Just curious, because I upload the WoL data for my guild, but I'd almost never want to log an LFR run, right? And I don't want to manually start and stop logging all of the time. (If I wanted to do that I wouldn't need an add-on.)

this will not sort difficulty, and I don't plan any addition of this. so if you are looking for an addon to log specific difficulties only this will never be the addon for you.

by typing /MAL or /maggzautolog it will bring up a list of commands, to hide the minimap button for use in LDB type "/mal hideicon" or "/maggzautolog hideicon" to show it again just use showicon instead. i am also going to be releasing the update for 5.2 in the next day or so. might have a couple minor changes with it as well. nothing to major as i do not want to start bloating this addon.

Ok latest version has been released, sorry for the delay had to make sure it was working properly with the new functionality i had added. The addon will now (as long as your saved variables exist) remember your logging preference for any raid instance it has previously been in. I did this to also removed the logging hiccup people were talking about previously and to allow people to choose to enable or disable a logging state based on an instance name.

ATM i have no plans for putting this into an options menu because i am trying to keep this addon as lite as possible, as well as continue to have it work regardless of patches or expansions to wow. However i do not have plans of discontinuing this addon, i just want something that should ALWAYS be able to work.

I am working on a method to enable auto logging for world bosses but at this time since it is NOT instance based it is very hard to formulate a reliable method that will be "patch proof" it is on my TODO list but for the mean time you will have to manually enable logging for that type of raid. Since that can still be done by clicking the icon to enable it, it is not a HIGH priority for me at this time.

Next version will be MoP ready and allow turning on and off of both raid style warning and chat window messages, also it will remember your current logging state for your current instance or dungeon. This should resolve the logging blips discussed in an earlier post. This will be Posted for download after MoP release so it should have all relevent bug fixes. As i stated earlier i dont have intents on setting up a large DB to keep track of every instance to see if you want a pre enabled or disabled state, basically this addon will ALWAYS enable logging upon entering a raid instance of any kind.

Then when it comes time to upload to WoL, you have to find and edit out all those blips since WoL only has the capabilities to read the previous some odd hours worth.

I do understand your points, however, if i start adding in selecting what zones and such get logged this addon would quickly turn into loggerhead, which has ALOT of bloat that doesnt matter IMO, as for the logging timeframe thing, if u die and run back into a raid zone your trying to log and then load it to WOL, it has no bearing on the timeframe as it is still the same timeframe as if it never disabled, either way its still x amount of time. So your point there is confusing to me. The addon only auto enables logging if a zone you enter is a raid instance. it should not be just auto enabling logging anywhere else. If your having that issue then i should have to correct something, as for the logging enabled message upon entry of a zone, that was part of the working as intended setup, i could put some more options to disable that text note so it wont come on every time it enables, but that was my originally intended way to tell the logging state.

I will look into adding the option to disable text based messages thru an option in the next version since the icon now works and serves that function since version 1.0.2. As for the adding in of remembering which select raid instances you want to log....... i dont know if i will ever add that.
