SquareMap  Updated less than 3 days ago!
Version: v6.0.2-10.27.14
by: fa3sr011 [More]
A simple square map interface.
  • These map icons are now inset inside the map rather than presented as a button around the outside; Mail Notification, Voice Chat, LFG, Local / Server Time, Garrison Report, Tracking, Instance / Raid Difficulty, and Calendar.
  • The map is zoomable using your mouse wheel.
  • The map defaults to the standard in-game location (upper right) but can be moved anywhere by holding down ALT + LEFT CLICK and dragging.
  • The map scale is slightly increased to fill a large gap area between the default position of the Buff Frame and the Quest Tracker. This addon does not modify the locations of the Buff Frame or the Quest Tracker. Map scaling can be manually changed in the LUA code of the addon and I've included simple comments to help you do so. If you adjust the default UI of the game using in-game settings the map will automatically scale with it.
  • Moved the map into a position on your screen that you don't like? Reset the default map position by deleting this file and relaunching WoW. You must be logged out completely for this to work. Use with caution as this will effect the position of other addon and in-game item placements.
    File: layout-local.txt
    Location: \WTF\Account\ACCOUNTNAME\SERVERNAME\CHARACTERNAME
  • You can selectively delete only the map location portion of the code without effecting the position placement of other items by removing only this portion and restarting your game. This will reset SquareMap to the default location on your screen.
    Code To Remove From layout-local.txt:
    Frame: Minimap
    FrameLevel: X
    Anchor: X
    X: X
    Y: X
    W: X
    H: X
  • These objects are hidden; Zoom In/Out Buttons, World Map Button, North Compass Pointer, and Zone Name.
  • 4KB addon footprint!
  • Addon compatible at Interface: 60000

Addon Inspired By Works From: 10LEEJ, MUNDOCANI, AILAE, VYNTROX, WEASOUG, LOCAN
v6.0.2-10.27.14
  • Instance / Raid Difficulty difficulty flag for Guild runs now properly fixed and centered under the Calendar button. This was a few pixels off. Future adjustments may be made as I'm working on pixel-by-pixel scales.
  • Addon version format changed to reflect the current patch version and the date of last revision.

v10.14.14
  • Addon compatible with Patch 6.0.2, PTR, and WoD Beta.
  • Recommending all users delete their layout-local.txt file to ensure the addon is starting in the default game location for the map. Details are provided in the addon description as well as recommendations to save other UI customizations you may have done.
  • User Buffs and Debuffs are not connected to the map. Moving your map into a non-default location will leave your character Buffs/Debuffs in their default location. Other Buff/Debuff addons can help you manage these well and provide many improvements.

v9.2.14
  • Fixed the position of the Instance / Raid Difficulty Flag along with minor X/Y button adjustments and button scaling.
  • New addon screen shots uploaded to reflect current build.

v8.25.14
  • Included map scaling ability.
  • Increased map scale slightly to fill gaps next to Buff Frame and Quest Tracking.
  • Bug fix for Guild Instance / Raid Difficulty flags.
  • Bug fix for map size declaration when requested from other addons.
  • Addon description includes detailed info on resetting map location without resetting other addon and in-game item placement.

v7.27.14
  • This release introduces the Local / Server Time now visible in the map at all times.
  • Fixed the position of the Instance Difficulty notification along with minor X/Y button adjustments.
  • Disabled the click sound when zooming in or out with your mouse on the map.

v7.24.14
  • This release attaches the Instance Difficulty flag to the map and positions it directly below the Calendar button.

v7.22.14
  • This release adjusts where the mail notification icon appears inset on the map. The X/Y for the icon was slightly off.

v7.20.14
  • Initial Public Release

Patch 6.0.2 Upcoming Fixes

I'm aware of an issue where the Instance / Raid Difficulty flag is not properly lined up beneath the Calendar. While the functionality is perfectly fine it is ascetically a few pixels off. Particularly while doing Guild Runs. Normal Dungeon and solo Raid runs appear to place the difficulty flag in the proper position or very close to centered under the Calendar which is my intention. I will look to make this slight change in a new release.

There is a naming convention many addon developers are switching to that includes the patch number the addon is currently compatible with. For example SquareMap v6.0.2.X. I may look to change my version formatting to incorporate this so that people can be a little more aware of the compatibility of the addon. Due to the simplistic nature of the coding used in the addon I plan to always keep it up to date so that functionality is always compatible with the current version of the game.

Good hunting!

09/02 Update

09/02 Update
A new version will be available soon for the Live and Beta clients which includes more minor bug fixes and button placement improvements. I will also update the screenshots of the addon to reflect the current version rather than the older version as those screenshots do at the moment.

These map icons are now inset inside the map rather than presented as a button around the outside; Mail Notification, Voice Chat, LFG, Local / Server Time, Garrison Report, Tracking, Instance / Raid Difficulty, and Calendar.

I will have a new release soon which will incorporate a few bug fixes for Guild Instance Difficulty Flags as well as some GUI changes. The map scale is also being bumped up a small bit to help fill the gap between the default location of the Buff Icons and the Quest Tracker. The map scale is changeable in the LUA if you do not like the small size increase. Down the road I'm looking into in-game Interface options or possible /slash commands to enable or disable certain features but this is very coding intensive and something I don't honestly see happening at the moment. Thanks for your time and for enjoying the addon!

anyway i really like your addon, been looking for one like this for a long time(a simple one, that doesn't hide everything)

edit: also if you are in a guild raid(saw it in 25) the raid icon appears on the original position of the map(i moved it)
At the moment I have no plans to add the Zone Name and Map button. In future updates that include some type of interface I would consider this option however. To be honest that's going to be a bit off for a GUI based interface due to the difficulty. Possibly a /slash command option but again, potentially a while off. I will look into the Guild Raid icon issue. I was not aware of this. If I can duplicate it I'll fix this right away in a future update.

I'm glad you like the addon and appreciate your comments.
