Tired of the ugly original quest frame ?

This addon aims to enhance the readability and immersion when questing in World of Warcraft. It adds a brand new quest frame, with animated models and fancy effects.

If you like to read all quests and are a fan of the World of Warcraft lore, this addon is for you !

What is it, exactly?

Storyline provides a new quest frame, that panel appearing when you get a quest from a NPC. World of Warcraft UI improved over the years but one thing Blizzard never touched is this hideous Quest frame. We wanted to have a quest frame inspired by the garrison frames dynamism.

Storyline frame adds 3D animated models for you and your quest giver. Also it "cuts" the dialogue into multiple parts, playing one after another in an old-school RPG style. Finally it adds more effects and visuals to express objectives and rewards.

I thought i tried that, but possible didn't find it correctly. I'll try it again, If I can get my second monitor to work properly. (Gremlins are awake tonight.)

Oh, that's an edge case I haven't think of. There actually is a scroll bar rendered but I hide it because it doesn't look great in the middle of the frame. I was thinking of re-designing it and gave up because it was too much trouble.

You can technically use it right now if you drag on the right edge of the options, but I will add an option to make it visible in the next update. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Have you tried to scroll? Because you actually can scroll on the dialog options.
Is this a middle mouse button or mouse wheel thing? I use a trackball with two buttons.

Have you tried to scroll? Because you actually can scroll on the dialog options.

I've seen this before, wtih Nomi (and thought I mentioned it...) where there are too many options for the panel, and no way to scroll down.

I just went to turn in a loot code to Landro Longshot in Booty Bay. Here is a screenshot of the Storyline pane:

REQUEST: Force the dialog options screen to reset to the top. Too many times I've started a new conversation with someone else only to have that dialog screen scrolled down past the (in many cases) one dialog option... and momentary confusion ensues.

Hi Barleduq. Thank you for the detailed bug report

It is not working as intended and you are right that the objective text should be displayed in the box. This part of the UI might have been impacted by the changes in 2.0 without me noticing.

I will look into fixing this for the next update

Not displaying quest objectives incomplete

I just installed this addon. I've been mostly just doing housekeeping, hitting garrisons and order halls. I did not notice this before this toon, but it's possible that I did not encounter a quest that I had not completed.

Right now, I'm on the 6th relog, the 4th unique toon. I'm a monk, looking at my order hall guy in front of the turtle. I haven't gotten rep with all the zones, and thus I've done no world quests, which is what the quest is for: A Peaceful World. I click on the guy, get the storyline pane, choose the quest. The circle in the middle displays a greyed out scroll, hovertext gives me Quest Objectives in large print, Check objectives in small print. The conversation snippet at bottom says "I see you've returned from your travels" and the small print under says 'check objectives'. When I click on the center circle (which has, on previous toons, showed me what I needed to complete the quest, which was (usually) in my bags already), It displays a new frame with the words Quest Objectives in it (brown, gold trim, angled point at the circle in the center). The small text at the bottom under the convo snippet has changed to 'come back when it's done'.

There's no other text in that Quest Objectives frame. I would expect to see something like '0/20 world quests done' - something indicating my progress. Am I misunderstanding the flow, here? Is this working as intended?

I'm not getting any bugs reported by Swatter.

This addon has made the entire questing experience more fun for me. Turning the quest dialogue into actual dialogue rather than words on parchment makes the game feel a lot more alive and makes it feel as though quest text is actually being spoken (as it should feel!). And the keyboard shortcuts make accepting quests easier rather than more cumbersome!

Most addons are just about making some specific UI element(s) more usable, but this addon actually takes WoW's outdated quest system (which at the time was a huge upgrade from EQ, but has since fallen behind) into a more modern system that we see in recent MMOs. No longer am I using addons to skip the boredom of quest text as this addon has actually made it enjoyable!

This is the kind of addon that I can imagine Blizz making into a default feature. You've done amazing work, here!

yes, however I've made mine smaller(narrower) than the set default, thus the dialog options being "wrapped" ...wondering how to modify the code to show full width dialog options despite a narrower overall frame size. hope that clarifies. thanks

ex: when asking a guard for directions, it just shows the options as "ba... ,auc..."etc... instead of "bank, auction house" this also happens when an npc provides multiple dialog options (a quest and a browse goods type text)
You can resize the Storyline frame by dragging the resize button in the bottom right corner. The dialog options pop-up will grow with the rest of the frame
