7.3.0

Trainer

Version: v1.01
by: Taraezor [More]

Description
Places pins on the World Map and Minimap for every Class and Profession trainer in all main cities. Each pin has a detailed tooltip. Getting ready for Vanilla and TBC!

Includes Darnassus, Ironforge, Orgrimmar, Shattrath, Silvermoon, Stormwind, The Exodar, Thunderbluff, Undercity.

How to Use
Instal: Like any other AddOn. Set up: Works 'as is'. For options enter '/trainer' in chat. You may need to enable "Out of Date" AddOns.

Works up to Patch 2.4.3. Getting ready for Vanilla and the inevitable TBC rerelease!

Details
Your World Map has icons for all the class and profession trainers in your city. All icons have tooltip text showing: the type of trainer, the shop/building name, the trainer name(s), the trainer title(s), any special notes. Your Minimap has identical functionality.

No more having to locate city guards and then only being shown one trainer at a time. Most often the guards will not even tell you the nearest riding trainer or will omit alternative trainers.

Some NPCs were only trainers in Vanilla. Others were introduced in TBC. This AddOn takes care of all of that.

Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português Brasileiro, Русский, 한국어, 简体中文

Features
😃 Resize the World Map / Minimap pin icons
😃 Map Tooltips
😃 If the trainer is out of range of the Minimap, the icon will hover at the border to indicate direction
😃 Icons sensibly located
😃 Helpful arrows
😃 Directions / coordinates to riding trainers outside cities
😃 Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português Brasileiro, Русский, 한국어, 简体中文
😃 No Ace libraries = no bloat
😃 Ultra small cpu/memory footprint

Technical
In a few cities, when deliberately standing in very unlikely or difficult to reach places the Minimap icons will disappear. You will never normally notice this.

At the four terrace/promenade level entrances to the dome of the Terrace of Light in Shattrath and the dome's internal ramps (which nobody uses), the icons will momentarily displace. The rogue trainers in Darnassus were problematic too.

The main problem is that Blizzard do not allow AddOn authors to access your "z" coordinate, only your "x" and "y". But many cities have circular ramps and multiple layers or levels.

If You Like Trainer
Nobody can resist an adorable Raptor Hatchling pet or the magnificent Netherwing Drake and Long-Forgotten Hippogryph mounts. You'll of course need Dark Soil for The Tillers friendships and a Loose Pebble for your Dog! While fishing you'll wonder if This Scampi Happening? Oh, but it is! Why not Let Minnow about your fishing poles and you surely Cod Do Batter with your fishing achievements. While adventuring, map your way with X and Y coordinates and always go the Hard Yards measuring distance. Have some fun with Yarrr for pirate Tooltips or turn geek with Fibonacci. See all the hidden game asset IDs with Tip or Enumerate your frames. Achievement critters and NPCs receive some Rare Love and keep track of Sunrise & Sunset.

Cookies, Beer & Donations
It is all about the cookies and beer although, and don't let Gallywix know about this, a "thank you" in the comments section fuels my programming appetite and is very much appreciated. And then, you could cut straight to Click here to lend your support! because as Gallywix would say... "time is money, friend". 😊

== v1.01 - 25th April 2018
* Farseer Umbrua added. TBC Stormwind Shaman Trainer. Not a Broken or Lost One in sight! Sigh

* Reposition the Orgrimmar Shaman trainer icon location to synchronise with that of the Paladin
* Royal Quarter and Grommash Hold added as "shops" (i.e. specially named locations/signs) and translated

Thanks Seerah. Point taken. After all, that's where 100% of legitimate WoW players are at!

A whole lot of reasons really. Mainly, concern that eventually I will need a "Classic" version of an AddOn. I decided to test if I could roll everything together.

Plus I have been programming/hacking since my first PC in 1979. I'm not very good at Lua or any language really but I simply find it a fun thing to do.

To be honest I can hardly wait to see what overall AddOn development environment we will be given for Classic. I am obviously ready and keen to go with it.

But it says version 7.3.0!

That's a limitation at WoW Interface.

Yes, I could remove the code which deliberately stops the AddOn working beyond Patch 2.4.3 (about four places, one line of code each place iirc) but it was never tested beyond 2.4.3. NPCs move and get added and deleted over the years. That's easy. Much worse awaits: The programming API and the implementation of the Lua programming language and other server / client changes complicate things.

At the moment it is ready for Vanilla and TBC and intelligently does what it needs to do depending upon whether or not you are running 2.4.3 or 1.12.1.

I will step by step move on up through the Patches.
