Bindings
There are now bindings available for the chat types and channels by index. Individual channels can also be set to bind by name, overriding a indexed binding of your choice.

Localizations:
English, German, French, Spanish, Russian, Simplified and Traditional Chinese
(I only speak English. All other translations have been user submitted. So if you have updates or new translations let me know.)

User Submitted Skins
The skinning system is a bit unique because it has more layers than a normal button with full up/down specularity and shadow as well as flash/hover alpha and normal shaping graphic that are all translucent to allow for the buttons to correspond to the chat type's selected color for each button.

To add a new custom Skin drop its folder into the ChatBar folder, modify the ChatBar_AltArtDirs table in ChatBar.lua and append the new folder name, then add a CHATBAR_SKIN# variable to the end of the localization file for it's readable name. Then select it from the dropdown in game.

Comes with the following skins: Solid, Glass and Squares

Reset
If you lose the bar you can reset it with this script: /run ChatBar_Reset()

Annoying as hell, kinda why i though it was a bug. Drives me nutts that every time i do a clean loging with only ACP (speeds up login when in raids if i reload to geta ddons up) i have to move it to position after reload every single time instead of just staying where i put it.

That said i just tried changing that BG file to black and white (which made it a greyish) and saved it as a 32bit compressed targa and reloaded wow... seemed to work fine. Not sure what problem you're having.
I desaturated it in Photoshop, but it didn't seem to work. I'll try the black and white though, see if that has a better effect. I even made a new skin with those files, and when I open the border file it is indeed in black and white, but not in-game (yes I have chosen the new Silver border I added). I'll let you know if the b&w works. I don't know why desaturated the file wouldn't work though. Huh. Oh well! ttyl and thanks for the fast response!

Perhaps you're right and one can easily live without this addon, but for me it's useful, since I'm using numerous custom channels all the time and having quick buttons for them is handy. Also I tend to forget to switch channels before typing, so at times I end up typing stuff that goes into party chat to the guild chat. With ChatBar I don't need to retype that or do Ctrl+A - Ctrl+X - change channel - Ctrl+V manipulations: just switch channels on the fly and the input will switch to the proper channel with all text intact.

Also ChatBar can print the list of people in a channel, so for custom channels I don't need to open a menu and check who is online.

And I'm not talking about adding the artwork, I see that's on the front page, just some details why changing the actual PSD files didn't change the colors in-game.

It's mostly useful as a persistent display of what channels you're currently in. Being able to click on the buttons as shortcuts for typing the slash shortcuts is nice but I don't use that feature often myself.

Only when I click on one of the other standard channels (General, Trade, LocalDefense), can I then get it to go into LookingForGroup. The old version prior to the update was working fine...it just needed a toc bump. Not sure what else got changed, but now it appears to be bugged.
Yes, after using latest ChatBar for more time I can confirm that behavior with all channels. Seems like until it's fixed (or some other addon is found to be a real culprit) the bar will just show me which channels I've joined, as using it for communication is awkward at the moment.
