IDCard   Popular!
Rate: 5 out of 5 with 13 votes
IDCard is a simple addon to show the inventory Icon next to the tooltip.

You can left-click and drag the icon to move the entire tooltip. Also, you can shift-click the icon to link the item in Chat, or controll-click the icon to try on that item.

[Note: This is standlone now. Using an addon framework was crazy overkill for something this tiny.]

Note to addon authors:
IDCard now has the ability to support an arbitrary number of tooltips. To add auto-support to your addon's tooltip, just call IDCard:RegisterTooltip(tooltip) passing it your custom tooltip object.

Version History:

- Fixed the bug that caused the icon to not clear itself when the tooltip was cleared
- Fixed the bug that caused a lua error when clicking one of the new reagent tooltips

1.1 (2007-2-23)
- Small bugfix to the hooking code
- Removed some redundant code

1.0 (2007-2-22)
- Now a Standalone addon
- Updated to use the new OnTooltipSetItem handler
- Added API for other addons
- Tinier than ever!

0.3 (2006-01-17)
- Added ability to ctrl-click icon to try on the item

0.2 (2006-01-17)
- Added ability to shift click icon to link
- Cleaned up some of the code.

0.1 (2006-01-06)
- Initial release

See the svn changelog here for a more detailed history.

Yup! Wreaks havoc on LightHeaded, that old version does!

Can you get this new lib-less version onto the Wowace-SVN server? Or get the old one removed? It's annoying that it updated to the older version all the time

I like this IDCard thing, it's handy. The Ctrl+Click functionality is the icing on the cake though and it was instrumental lately (rummaging through guildspam links) in helping me find a weapon to prove something to a friend; that almost everything the Draenei build has a HUD on it. Be it a wall, a table, a totem or a sword.

'cause it's ugly up there? (just kidding) I haven't used a comparison addon since Paladins could exorcise the Forsaken so I never really had issues... (and back then, the comparison tips were usually on the right). I suppose if there is enough demand for wanting the icon somewhere else, I can add a few options, but the reason it's so tiny atm (48 lines total) is that it has no options.

Id say instead of putting the icon left to the link, why not place it on top of it?

Issue with Equip Compare

The tooltip from Equip Compare and the icon from IDCard overlap. Adding an option for placing the icon on top of the corresponding tooltip rather than to the left would help...

Nice work. A great improvent over LinkItem, as I found myself trying to do just what you added :P

Question?

is there a differnce between this addon and this one (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...fo.php?id=4450)

Or did the two of you just happen to come up with this idea at the same time
