BugSack  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: r283
by: funkydude [More]

BugSack eases the process of capturing bugs. It captures information about Lua errors that occurred during your play session, including the full debug stack. It aims to be invaluable to developers, and a useful tool for advanced players that use beta-quality addons.

BugSack includes a LDB data broker plugin that displays the last 5 errors in the tooltip. It can also bring up a frame to display all other errors for the current session, or for any other session. The text of the error can then be copied & pasted to a source outside of WoW (for example the forums) so that other developers can determine what's at fault.

Remember to file a ticket if you find a problem or want to request a feature.

!BugGrabber

This addon REQUIRES BugGrabber, which is the addon that actually grabs the bugs. !BugGrabber is intentionally kept small, and it does not use any libraries, to make sure that any errors in those libraries do not mess up the system.

Here's one that isn't old:

Code:
["message"] = "BugSack-r251\\sack.lua:136: bad argument #1 to \"wipe\" (table expected, got nil)",
			["time"] = "2011/04/29 06:28:36",
			["locals"] = "tab = BugSackTabSession {\n 0 = <userdata>\n bugs = \"currentSession\"\n}\nsearchLabel = <unnamed> {\n 0 = <userdata>\n}\nsearchBox = <unnamed> {\n 0 = <userdata>\n}\nsessionLabel = <unnamed> {\n 0 = <userdata>\n}\nsearchResults = <table> {}\nsearchThrough = nil\nstate = \"BugSackTabAll\"\nupdateSackDisplay = <func> @BugSack\\sack.lua:32\n",
			["stack"] = "<in C code>\nBugSack-r251\\sack.lua:136: in function <BugSack\\sack.lua:131>",
			["session"] = 3,
			["counter"] = 1,
Fresh out of the cooker today. ^_^

That's a really old build of BugSack. Looks to be build 166 from around 2008.

The current versions of BugSack load using Libstub afaik. They certainly don't have a BugSack.lua file in them.

Try grabbing the 4.1 alpha from :

http://www.wowace.com/addons/bugsack/files/

Also go in your WTF file and drill down (ie keep opening folder) until you find a SavedVariables folder. If there is a Bugsack.lua file inside wipe it. Also keep going as there is a SV for your account and a SV for each of your toons.

EDIT : Accidental necro ! Woops !

Will this be updated for 4.0.1? I have rev229, but World of Warcraft is still telling me, that it's outdated.

Sweet an update! BugSack is a CRUCIAL addon for me, since I run a lot of addons and there's always that one addon that "works," but generates constant errors after a patch.

BugSack is GREAT for hiding that spam.

Thanks for continuing to maintain this addon, my current version was 18 months old!

Latest update (July 12th. 2010) have broken the dropdown menu, so can't disable the annoying Fatality sound.

EDIT.
Did another restart of WoW and it worked, I could get to options for the addon again and disable the sound.

FuBar support was removed because it meant that BugSack had to include about 400kb in library files that were only used to support FuBar. That's a lot of overhead! Instead, BugSack now provides a Data Broker plugin; this requires only a single 3kb file, and is supported by nearly a dozen different display addons, including Titan Panel. FuBar is pretty much the only display addon left that doesn't support Data Broker, but you can install Broker2FuBar to provide a compatibility layer and show Data Broker plugins on FuBar.

Also, it looks like Rabbit forgot to update here on WoWI; the latest release on Curse includes a new minimap button.

it's the "error.wav" soundfile in your bugsack folder. Replace or delete the file.

The icon missing from FuBar seems to be a more complex problem, because many other addons have the same issue (for example BigWigs, oRA2). To fix this you could use a data broker addon (for example StatBlockCore) or simply use Broker2FuBar.
