SilverDragon tracks rares. It'll remember where you last saw a rare mob, and will pop up a notification message when you get near one.
It comes with a list of rares. Type "/silverdragon" to bring up the options, and use the "Import Data" button to bring 'em in. (It's not installed by default, in case people would prefer to keep the suspense alive. )
If you have nameplates enabled it'll scan through them to find rares nearby. Otherwise it requires you to mouseover/target a rare, or for your party member/pets to do likewise.
When a rare appears, SilverDragon will pop up a frame that you can click on to target it.
SilverDragon can also create a macro to target any rares that are known in the current zone. It's just that good.
If you import the default dataset: the very first time you come within visual range of a rare, SilverDragon will tell you. It only works the first time because it's checking the game's mob cache, and once you've seen it the game will remember. Remember, this won't happen if you don't do an import.
You can clear the mob cache by quitting WoW and deleting the Cache sub-directory in your WoW directory.
A LDB plugin is included to list rares in your current zone. I like ButtonBin as a viewer, but there'll be a minimap icon if you don't have any viewers installed. (You could use Broker2FuBar to put it on FuBar.)
If you have Cartographer or HandyNotes installed it will add map notes for rares, which can be shared with others.
Note that if you don't have a Broker viewer, and you don't have a supported map notes addon, all this addon will do is print a message into your scrolling text when you mouse over a rare!

Optional Files - SilverDragon
Sorry, there are currently no optional files available.
Is there any way to turn off the icons on the map? I use Carbonite for my main world map and Sexymap for my minimap. I love SD but seriously hate having little dragon head icons all over my maps.
Both descriptions given regarding that instruction seem inaccurate to me after using this for a long time. I don't have nameplates visible. The only time I see a mob name is if I mouseover it or click on it. However, I've had the rare popup thing appear multiple times for the same mobs I've already seen if they are there again another day... even if they aren't on my screen and I can't see them/no mouseover/no target. I also have never gotten false readings when entering a new zone after importing the data. The only "false" reading I ever had wasn't really false, but was an undead rare in Western Plaguelands that was invisible. I could target him but could not attack him. I looked up comments on that mob and it seems others have had issues seeing it also... they even commented on being attacked by the mob without being able to defend. I was too high level to be attacked unless I managed to get almost right on top of it. I've had a similar situation on a normal murloc in Wetlands as well, where it attacked me but was not visible.
Anyhow, I'm not really sure the meaning of that sentence, but I don't get "dummy" notices (ever) and I get popups on the same mob even when not on my screen (in buildings, behind walls or hills, etc). If anything, *maybe* it just means you'll get one popup without targeting or mouseover until logout for the same mob.
Ye i kinda figured it out myself just i think the instructions needed to be worded a little different , basically when you enter a new zone it pops up a dummy rare find window , but will only do it once per zone after that the pop ups are real targets within that zone

It's really simple. When you download the addon, IMPORT the default dataset. Once you do this, the VERY first time you get near EACH rare spawn it will light up for you. Now the NEXT time you are near that SAME rare spawn it won't unless you mouse over it, target it, or have the target nameplates visible. If you "see" a rare and it lights up and you don't get to kill it, you will need to go and delete your creature cache in the cache file so that next time you "see" it, the addon will light up for you. Hope that helps.

Keep getting whenever silver dragon targets a rare. So far it happens most frequently when l'm already in combat and a rare shows up, but l'm not positive if that's anything to do with it. I'm also not entirely sure it's silver dragon, but it's always the same message. Going to disable more addons, but atm l have a very limited number running b/c l haven't been able to figure out what's causing it.
Anyway, love the addon. it really is amazing. :P

had to update the librockconfig thingy... i had actually done this already but had put it in the wrong folder... this one actually had to go down into the carto folder. First time I've seen that but no biggy.
Funny story to go along with this. Had just fixed this and was sitting in Nessingwary's camp in Sholozar. I had tabbed out to update this comment when I heard that old "SD" sound... so I tabbed back in and tada King Krush was waiting for me
with 3.2 i changed my mods updated etc... the usual drill. including cartographer. the map is a little different than before just flavor.. no major but the big thing is all my silverdragon markers have disappeared. I'm not sure if it's cartographer doing it or what. I didn't update silverdragon as nothing recent with it obviously. Any thoughts whta I'm missing?

I don't quite how this is supposed to work with cartographer. Should this show up even if I haven't seen the mob, or only after I have detected the mob for the first time.
Originally posted by MorsGladius Now I have noticed one thing on the Wrath rares. I get hits for Putridus the Ancient and yet he is not there. I have 2 hits on either end of the Tournament camp in
