When you hold a modifier key (Shift, Ctrl or Alt) the aura icon size change according to your setup.

So you can have little aura icon (12) and big when you hold shift (icon size 20).
I dispell with Shift+Click (addon Clique), so when I press shift, I see clearly the icon.
