I used Chatmod until 3.0.2 when it stopped working (and still is broken I think). Features I liked from Chatmod were:
ability to on-the-fly replace displays of your own name with alternate text of your choice. Example: anytime Zuzu or Zuzupetals appeared in my chat frame, it would display as >ZUZU< in bright blue with white brackets so I could see it from the corner of my eye.
Also, it color coded the names of people according to their class, pulling from a local datafile that added people when you targeted them or when you did a /who query.
Lastly, It let me rename long channel names with replacements of my choice. If someone posted from a channel named "Private Raiding Officers Channel", I could have Chadmod replace that with "PROC" and it helped keep my chatframe clear of all that channel name mess.
big fan of trinity bars and have tested out the new version on beta, good work. I've been using ChatMod but decided to try Trinitychat because Im a fan of the bars and would like to use addons of people I "know" that do good work. Would like to know if you've considered adding abbreviations to channel names, chatmod has this, i.e. I can pick Raid Leader to appear as RL, Guild as G, Trade as T and so on. Another nice option would be the option to copy lines of text from the chat log, Mumble has this, adds a character of your choice (default is #) to the start of each line, clicking this opens a text box with the chat text in that you can copy.
Keep up the good work
<edit> since installing this, in battlegrounds I appear to be /w random people strings of what i think are deadlybossmod timer info, I searched the net for the strings and only references to DBM come up. If I remove trinitychat the /whispers dont happen. Bossmods is up to date</edit>

Thanks for adding the name colorization in this latest iteration! It's much easier to identify players now.
I've been running nice and stable for a good while now. I can't think of any bugs I've gotten with beta.4, and I'm running WIM v2.4.15 on top.
TrinityChat2-20400.1\\chat.lua:1071: attempt to index field '?' (a nil value)
TrinityChat2-20400.1\\chat.lua:1313: in function
<Interface\\AddOns\\TrinityChat2\\chat.lua:1313>
I pulled this from !bugSacks log file.
I am running the beta 4 version.
FYI, I'm using the latest version of WIM. As far as I know, that's the only other chat type mod I have.
Let me know if there's any other info I can give you.

Welcome to Trinty Chat RaeVanMorlock
Setting up template for TC is in the works.
I will add support for arrow keys in the edit box. I just got used to using alt-arrow key over the years
Re-Ordering the elements is on the to-do list. I am just working out a system to implement the re-ordering.

Do you mean the chat edit box or when you pull up the chat options? In either case, the normal arrow keys seem to work on my end.

Originally posted by Harshmage I did a little with TrinityChat last night, and I like it, as it does most of the things I'd like, and doesn't have the 16-billion options (that I don't use) that Prat has.
However, I would like to see something akin to one feature of Prat and TasteTheNamebow: Colored Names in Public Chat Channels.
What TTN does is for all the different users that talk in the General, Trade, Local Defense, etc..., they get assigned a color (which I believe is random, but it might not be). It makes following a conversation easier.
I have not tested TTN in conjunction with TrinityChat, but I'd rather see the function integrated into TrinityChat rather than have yet another addon in the folder.
I am looking into the addon to see exactly what it does. I was thinking more along the lines of just off-setting the color of names by just a bit from the chat channel color if the class color is not know, but we shall see how it all works out
Originally posted by Jolls I've been playing around with TrinityChat this weekend, trying to make the jump over from Prat - so far things are pretty darn spiffy!
One thing I have noticed though is an issue with Class Colors. Within 3 custom made channels, Class Colors only works in one of those three channels. And in the one channel it does work, there is one character (priest) that it for some reason refuses to color as a priest. Even if I indicate to show Class Icons, TC is somehow not recognizing him as a priest and he remains the default color of the channel with no icon. Very odd.

Hi! Really excited to try out this chat mod since Blizzard totally fubar-ed their chat, but is there a TrinityChat for Dummies? I read the "read me" file, but I was wondering if there was a step-by-step on how to use this add-on. I can't seem to figure out what the heck I'm doing!
