BetterFriends
This addon let you group your friends.

Select a friend with right-click and select a mainchar to attach this friend to him.
Now you get a button to minimize/maximize this group.
You can add more than one friend to one main.

If one twink is online and the group is minimized then the name of the main is displayed in brackets.

The settings you make will be seaved per character

planned:
add buttons to set notes to friends.

BugFix:
correct the bug that accours if you set a twink to the main in a group with more than one twink. If you had this problem you had to reset the DB with /bf profile reset

I'm not getting a right click option.
I assume i'm doing something wrong?

I'm supposed to right click the friends name in the friend window correct?
All i get are the typical: (If they are online)
Whisper
Invite
Ignore
Cancel

I've ensured the mod is enabled in AddOns but don't see any indication in game that it is working.

I'm USA if that matters at all. /shrug

Do I need BetterGuild installed to use this mod?

I foresee this problem. During the development of the AuldlangSyne support I found this version on the Ace SVN. So I have started to develop the support for this version already.

Understood. I will check the guild options, that must have just been a bad assumption on my part after seeing the friends list. I thought about copying the saved variables over, so I will give this a shot as well. Thanks for the quick answers, and I look forward to the new version with ALS support!

EDIT: Checked, and verified guild settings are persistent across characters! Woot!

Well the settings of BetterGuild will be saved per GUILD, so you must only configure the guild-alts with one of your chars.

If your Friendslist is nearly the same at every alt then you can do this:
Go online with one of your alts and configure BetterFriends. Then shut down WOW and go to the folder WOW\WTF\<accountname>\<servername>\<charname of the alt you were online and made the configurations>\SavedVariables\
there search for "BetterFriends.lua". Copy that file and paste it into every alt folder you want.
Overwrite the other "BetterFriends.lua" if they exists.
Next time you log in with an alt (who get the copied "BetterFriends.lua") your friendslist should be configured as you made the settings at the beginning.

AuldLangSyne support in development
I am pretty sure that AuldLangSyne will work with BetterFriends and with BetterGuild as well. I wrote 2 new functions that make this possible. But I must test them before I release the new versions.

A Request
I have a full friends list, as well as a guild with ~380 characters, and many of us (in both guild and friends) have multiple characters (I am an alt king! ) That is one of the reasons this mod seemed so interesting to me. So, I went through and set up BetterFriends on one of my guys, and started doing some of the guild characters. Then, I switched to one of my other guys, and realized the settings are per character. I have a mod that syncs my friends list, and most of my characters are in the same guild. Is there any way this could be done for all characters?

I know guild would be interesting, because I do have a few characters in a different guild, but the friends list is synced. Once ALS works again, and if this could be done, I would really, really like this mod.

Yep not playing well with AudlangSyn, always throws the errors i posted earlier if both are enabled, once these two play nice together we will all be happy campers ;-)

Probobaly working with AuldLangSyn
hmm, I think I had to write an other function to Update the Frinedslist so that both will work. But I must check out the code previously to be sure.

Would be nice if this (and BetterGuild) worked with AuldLangSyn (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...o.php?id=5320). I'm going to post a similar comment on his section as well, since I'm not sure who would need to do the code to support. But, so far, this looks like a very nice mod!
