This addon will attempt to estimate the amount of time you have left until you are flagged AFK. If you're marked as AFK, you will have a large banner in the middle of your screen stating so; and the timer will count up. Displaying the total amount of time you have been marked.
Please let me know of any bugs you encounter!
Change Log - Time until AFK v3
25Nov2008: The addon should be a bit more intelligent to determine when the timer shows. It's not perfect however, I still need a bit more free time to work on it.
22Oct2008: Fixed some scale issues & cleaned up options code.
17Oct2008: Updated for WolTK & cleaned up/enhanced code. Also added options to WoW Interface Options panel.
Optional Files - Time until AFK v3
Sorry, there are currently no optional files available.
Originally posted by BJRubino Is there a way to get the timer to countdown correctly? It activates at 5 minutes, but it takes just under 10 min. to go AFK.
Also, is it possible to get a warning with about 5 to 10 seconds before going AFK? I get one at 45 sec., but that was it.
Thanks,
BJR
It's impossible. The timer is a rough estimate, sometimes it takes 5 minutes exactly, sometimes 15. I chose to set the timer at a default of 5 minutes, since there is no way to determine the exact time before you go afk.
In future versions you will be able to adjust the timer to your specifications, I've just been busy lately.

Re: AWAY FROM KEYBOARD stays on screen when zoning

Any chance that this can be fixed? [/b]
That's fixed in this latest version. Also, a '/console reloadui' would have done the trick.
Well, I never use and never need this in BG. I judge AFKers by their position (in a n irrelevant place for a long while even if he moves a little bit, etc). And someone guarding a tower or bunker, or a bottleneck should not be considered as AFK even if they stay still there for a long time.
I have been using this mod before I start BG, and it is very useful if I need a long break (like a meal) but I don't want to lose my manna biscuilt(from someone else) by disconnection for 5 minutes.

Originally posted by Kyahx Well I'm glad to hear that if this addon is ever discontinued, there is a number of other addon's I can use to assit my AFK'ing in BGs.
Exactly what are you crusading for when singling out this addon/author again?
Said addons don't have the ability to notify the user via sounds.

Create one for the time it takes for you toon to be flagged as AFK and run it if you're doing one of the tasks you mentioned above. Originally posted by Kyahx But it DOES have other LEGEITIMATE use as well. There are other-times when you want to not get flagged AFK while still not paying attention, such as waiting for a GM to answer a ticket, (The will generally just close your ticket and then send an e-mail if your toon is AFK) or while waiting to JOIN a battleground.
As reasonable as this argument is it still doesn't drown the problem this addon DOES cause. If all that stuff is useful.. remove the bit of code that makes it function inside battleground.
Bam, issue solved. You can't name one example where this addon is useful INSIDE a battleground. Do you honestly expect me to believe you're going to sit AFK in a battleground while you wait for a GM to answer your page?
"Hi that's a wonderful issue and I would be happy to assist you with it, however, you're AFK and not participating in the battleground so I'm going to have to remove you from it. Have a nice day."
Now your issue is unresolved and you're flagged a coward.

In case any of you getting your knickers in a twist over this didn't know, Blizzard will be adding a "Report AFK Player" function in the next patch.
Does this addon make it EASIER for people who want to AFK do so? Yes.
But it DOES have other LEGEITIMATE use as well. People who want to AFK in battlegrounds will still do so, whether this mod exists or not. People who are "hard-core" AFK'ers won't be useing a mod like this anyways, they generally have a simple script that presses their spacebar every few minutes.
This mod does nothing that is technically agasint the TOS, this mod uses very root functions of the API that *will not* break (any time soon), and come next patch you zealots will have a nice offical quick way of reporting AFK'ers anyways. Now stop complaining.

I'm sure I could think of a few things that would make you happier.

That's unlikely to happen, ever. I could see people that use this addon getting punished, but never the creator.
That would be like fining makers of CD/DVD burners because people pirate movies and music.

In the very early versions of the mod, it was checking Coords instead of hooking movement =)
However, I ran into problems with it (instances not having coords for example) so I chose to do movement instead. Even when Blizzard does solve (or attempt to) the AFK problem in BG's this addon will still retain usefulness. And for as long as it does, or I play this game, I'll continue to update the addon as needed. =)
