Previously known as Xolpass and Xolan's Compass Bar (fan update by Jaim Sandar). Periscope is built upon the latter.
Periscope is mod that allows you to navigate with the use of a periscope. It displays directions, pings, corpse and custom destinations. Future version will include support for other map-mods, for example adding TomTom waypoints to the mod.
Commands:
* /ps - Displays the help
* /ps toggle - Toggles the options window
* /ps xx,yy - Displays a custom destination on the compass
* /ps clear - Clears your custom destination
* /periscope - Alternative to /ps
* /xp - Alternative to /ps, I left it in for ease of transition
Not localized, but should work nevertheless on any client.
Thank you Jaim Sandar for keeping the mod going while I was gone!
Currently working on:
Options integrated into Blizzard's Interface Options - Addons panel.
Lightheaded support.
Optional TomTom support.
Reduce the number of updates. Currently it's calculating stuff every drawn frame. This should improve performance further, complementing the low memory usage (20KiB - ~110KiB).
Once this is done I will start working on the mod again from the ground up, keeping current feature requests in mind, mainly scaling, and possibly customization, though I'm not completely sure about that yet.
Localize the mod.
Polish for v1.0 release.

I don't think they exist, how about ya fix the coords to something more...realistic =P
Um yeah that's weird :P I'll have a look at that.
EDIT: I've removed coordinates from the ping output as it's not really needed. I've also decided not to give scaling any effort untill the rewrite, which I will start working on once/if I get the/a WotLK beta key. If that doesn't happen I'll be starting the rewrite in a month or so. I've just started a in new job so I'm very busy at the moment.
Right, I'll see what I can do tomorrow about that. The way this mod's written isn't very pretty so adding such a feature will break another with about 90% certainty...
As I said though, I'll give it a go tomorrow, and if I find it impossible, I will keep it in mind for the rewrite so it at least will be a part of that.
Yes, I'd like to keep the entire 360 degrees of view showing, currently max width, but be able to make the actual display narrower. So yes, it would be making the direction letters closer together visually.
From
W........N...|....E........S
to
W....N.|..E....S
So to speak.
Same output and info, just less screen real estate.
Again, thanks for working on this mod, and for answering questions.
Any chance of sizing/scaling silders? (not just how many degrees to show, but the size of the bar itself?)
I'd like to see all 360 degrees, but would like the width to be smaller to better fit my UI.
Thanks again for the update and your time.
With the current code, I don't think I'll be able to do that without extreme changes. I will however keep it in mind for the rewrite (which I'm writing alongside this version). I'm updating and experimenting on this mod, while writing a cleaner, and better performing mod which I will release when I feel it's ready.
Let me see if I got it right though. Currently you can change the width of the bar, but not it's contents. What you'd like is to expand/narrow in the distance between the directions correct? As for scaling the whole frame, I will not implement that as it will definately ruin the look of the mod, but again, I'll keep it in mind for the rewrite.
Slightly updated.
Added corpse locator and renamed the mod to Periscope. Full changelog can be found under the appropriate tab. Feature requests are still very welcome.

So anyone, feel free to pick up the mod and improve it further. And a big thanks to Jaim for keeping it up to date!
Originally posted by Jaim Sandar It looks like we only were privileged for a short contact from Xolan. Once again I can not find that elusive one. Oh, well! We're still on our own.
I'm still here, and I'm playing wow again now. I'll msg you my msn adress so we can communicate more easily.
