== Features ==

Play a customized sound file whenever the corresponding ability is used.
Play a customized sound file whenever the coresponding ability crits.
Play a customized sound file for Killing Blows.
Play a customized sound file for "Out of range" message.
Play a customized sound file for player death.
Play a customized sound file for player level up.
Play a customized sound file for player mounted.
Play a customized sound file for Target Low Health.
It will play WAV's and MP3's.
It will remember configured sounds between gaming sessions on a per-character basis.

== Usage ==

Access the config window by /playsound or /plays
Use the side panel to configure sounds for different events
Use the drop down menu to select which ability you want a sound for
Fill in the text areas with the file name of your sound (i.e. funny.wav)
* Normal Sound - will play every time the ability is used
* Crit Sound - will play if the ability has a critical
* KillingBlow Sound - will play if you perform a killing blow
* Out-of-Range Sound - will play if you attempt to interact with an out-of-range target
* Death Sound - will play if you die.
* Level Up Sound - will play when you gain a level
* Mount Sound - will play when you use your mount
* Target Low Health - will play when your current target has less than 20% health
Note: the sound file MUST be within the addon's sound folder (i.e. Interface\AddOns\PlaySound\Sounds) BEFORE you launch the WoW client.
Click the Save button to save your change.
Use the Clear button to clear the text field

Sound files need to be placed within your WorldofWarcraft\Interface\AddOns\PlaySound\Sounds folder

I downloaded it, unzipped, placed the folder into my add on folder, placed a ventrilo .wav file into the sound folder, hopped in game, typed /playsound and /plays and nothing happened.

Hey

Are you going to update this addon? Its not working ever since the release of 2.4 patch. I kind of miss it, gameplay is boring without critical sounds ;-)

This is not possible due to game API limitations.

Im not sure if this is for you...but perhaps its possible that you add an option which plays a certain sound whenever something gatherable (mining/herbalism) becomes visible/trackable on minimap?

Requested Features

I am glad that so many people like my addon. The ideas for new features are excellent. This addon started off being nothing more than "use an ability, play a sound" and has evolved into what it is now because of its users. Thanks guys for your support

Some of the feature requests that I am looking at including:

Low Health (player)
Low Mana (player)
Weapon Crit (made by player)(melee and ranged)

@hArd_killah: I know I could capture pet crits and abilities, I just need to figure a way to generate a list of abilities that a pet knows or can know. It should work similar to how I load abilities for the player, but I've never done it for pets before. Ill look into it, but no promises.

Hey

Thats a very nice addon that you made, im using it and enjoying very much. I got a little problem though - whenever my hunter makes a critical strike with his ability (multi-shot, arcane shot, aimed shot) special sound is working then, however, it doesnt work when my hunter hits a critical with his normal ranged attack. What to do? (adding a sound to autoshot ability doesnt solve the problem)

Also, is it possible to add different sounds for different types of attack? For example i'd like that i have 1 kind of sound whenever my hunter hits a critical with his ranged attack, and different kind of sound whenever he hits a critical with his melee attack.

Anddd is it possible to add sounds for your pet's attack and abilities?

A small problem

Excellent addon overall, though there is a small problem.

i configured the addon to play a certain Music (Wav) file whenever i deal a killing blow, the problem is when i do another killing blow to another player the music starts to overlap. ie (i deal a killing blow and music file start to play...i deal another killing blow to another player and the music starts again over the old one, so i have the music play twice and it keeps playing it more with every killing blow)

i,d like to know if its possible to reset the played music when ever the event trigger....so i deal a killing blow and music (X) starts to play, i deal another Blow and music (X) restarts from the beginning or better still only the first trigger keeps playing.

A low health sound, yes that would work.

It should be working correctly now. I tried deleting my own SavedVariables and got your error. Some bad coding on my part was failing to load the PlaySound_CharVar variable properly. You will need to delete all the SavedVariables for PlaySound again before loading the game. Sorry chusina.
