Chatterbox is a successor to AnnoyRP; it detects events and responds to them by, for instance, saying witty things. You could "/party Ow." when you die. You could say various funny things when draining souls.
By default, Chatterbox uses a low chance (about 5%) of saying anything at all in response to events. Trust me! THIS IS A GOOD THING.
Chatterbox seems to be stable!
Feedback is welcome.
Upcoming features:
/cbox say command
major revisions and updates of help files
Some way to share events between characters.
Change Log - Chatterbox
Works with WotLK now (the tab interface and scroll interface both changed).
Optional Files - Chatterbox
Sorry, there are currently no optional files available.
Optimally I'd like to see an checkbox for each Event or best of all individual Chatters to turn it off out of combat. This would allow chatters for spells meant to be used out of combat to retain them for utility's sake, such as portals, res spells and buffs, but avert issues like the example I gave above without any fuss.
Thanks for your time. [/b]
I sort of like that -- maybe a combat flag and a non-combat flag, similar to the intent of the self/other flags (which I don't think work right now).
I love this mod, but I was wondering if you might consider adding an option that would make for some less hassle for myself and, I think, others.
Basically, there's a lot of abilities I use across various characters while roleplaying out of combat. I really don't need Chatterbox to go off when I'm doing that (I can type out dialogue just fine at those times ) and sometimes it can lead to horrible situations where a character will say something that they wouldn't EVER DREAM OF saying in the current context. Case in point, at one point my druid cast Hurricane over some friends to annoy them ICly and one of her chatters went off, causing her to sing "Raindrops keep falling on your head, and that means that you will soon be falling dead!" Needless to say, that turned out poorly.
Toggling the mod to mute every time is annoying and far too easy to forget. Telling every ability that can be used out of combat to not say anything out of combat would be laborious in the current setup, if it is even possible. All I want is an option to suppress the mod entirely when out of combat. If you want to go a step further, a button to toggle the mod on or off that can be placed in the normal view of the UI, maybe a map button, would be okay too.

Originally posted by Ahnji Ya I had hoped that it might have been because I forgot to uncheck the mute box, but when I checked it hadn't been muted, so it should have been RP'ing the sayings.
It's quite possible that the box is out of sync -- try clicking it a couple of times, if that fixes it then there may be a case where it gets put into the wrong mode. Hmm.
Originally posted by seebs That sounds like mute or debug mode, I can't remember which.
I'll have to muck about with this more. It may depend on some other addon, or something, but I can't imagine how; the tab code is pretty simple.

Originally posted by Ahnji Well, looks like the problem of not being able to access the 'chatters' tab is back again and I don't even have Satrina Buff Frames running. Funny thing is, this happens sporadically, and also, the chatters I have put in, when I was able to access the tab, don't actually get said in the 'say' channel. I get some green text in my chat box reading: Chatterbox would have said "insert my quote here."
I don't understand why it's not saying anything anymore, as I have had it successfully work before, but now it just doesn't want to say my quotes I put in.

Ok, I figured out what addon was causing the conflict. It seems it's coming from Satrina Buff Frames. Even with the latest version of it it still causes the tab issue I was telling you about. I posted for the addon author of SBF so that they would be aware of this problem as well:

Just wanted to drop a line here of something that I came across today. SBF seems to have a conflict with Chatterbox (or the other way around). Either way, in chatterbox, with SBF active, one of the tabs becomes unselectable. No idea why but I will be posting this issue for the addon author of Chatterbox as well so that it might help getting it solved. I love both the addons and wouldn't want to have to seek out replacements for either.
Originally posted by seebs No idea, but I'll see if I can reproduce it. It would not shock me if the tab code were buggy; 3.0 completely broke it and I may have missed something in getting it fixed.
Hmm. It works for me. Any indications of, say, other addons influencing it?

Awsome, if it is buggy, and you can get the tabs working again, I'll definitely be using this addon as I loved AnnoyRP.
Originally posted by Ahnji I'm having an issue with Chatterbox. When I first load up the UI for it I can switch to the 'Chatters' tab just fine. But once I leave that tab and go to another then try to come back to it, it refuses to show. I remain in whatever tab I am currently in. Only reloading the UI fixes this. Any idea what might be wrong?
