Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I hide the default Blizzard player, target unit frames and party unit frames?
Type /icehud, expand the "Module Settings" section, click "Player Health" or "Target Health," and check "Hide Blizzard Frame" and/or "Hide Blizzard Party Frame". (NOTE: before version 1.3.7, the player/target unitframes were hidden by default. Follow the same steps to enable them if desired)

2. How do I turn off click-targeting and menus on the player bar?
Type /icehud, expand the "Module Settings" section, click "Player Health," un-check "Allow click-targeting." Note that as of v1.3, there is now an option to allow click-targeting out of combat, but turn it off while in combat.

3. How do I hide the HUD or change its transparency based on combat, targeting, etc.?
Type /icehud, check the "Transparency Settings" section. Nearly any combination of states should be available for tweaking.

4. Even if the rest of the HUD is transparent, the health percentages seem to show up. Why?
Type /icehud, expand the "Module Settings" section, expand "Player Health," click "Text Settings," look for options about keeping the lower/upper text blocks alpha locked. If the text is alpha locked, it will not drop below 100%, otherwise it respects its bar's transparency setting. Player Health/Mana, Target Health/Mana, and pet bars should all have these options.

5. Is there any way to see combo points for Rogues and Druids or sunder applications for Warriors?
Yes, check the "Combo Points" and "Sunders" modules in the /icehud configuration panel. (Note that these modules may not show up if you're not of the appropriate class to see them. They should be present for their respective classes, however.)

6. What's this thing at the top of the player's cast bar and threat bar? It's darker than the rest of the bar. (and may be colored red)
That's the Cast Lag Indicator (or the aggro-pull warning for the Threat bar) that shows you when you can start casting a new spell and still be able to finish the current one (based on your lag to the server). You can disable this in the Player Cast Bar settings under the /icehud configuration screen.

7. Is there a bar that shows breath underwater and if so, how can I adjust it?
Yes, this is called the MirrorBarHandler in the module settings portion of the /icehud configuration. It's called that because it mirrors casting bar behavior, displays more than just breathing (fatigue is one example), and that's what Blizzard calls it. It can be moved/adjusted/resized/etc. as with any other module.

8. There's a long green bar that sometimes shows up below everything else. What is it?
That would be the TargetOfTarget module. That module is available for people who don't want the full ToT health/mana bars, but do want some sort of ToT representation on the screen. It's configurable through the /icehud module settings.

9. IceHUD needs a bar or counter for buff/debuff X!
Good news: as of v1.5, you can create as many bars and counters for any buffs or debuffs you want! Type /icehud, select one of the custom module types in the drop-down at the top of the settings page, and press the Create button. This will create a custom module and automatically select it in the list. It is highly recommend that you rename the bar as soon as possible to avoid any confusion later.

10. How do I turn off the resting/combat/PvP/etc. icons on the player or target?
Type /icehud, expand Module Settings, expand PlayerHealth (or TargetHealth for targets), click Icon Settings. You can control every aspect of the icons there including location, visibility, draw order, etc.

11. How do I turn off buffs/debuffs on the player's or target's bar?
Type /icehud, expand Module Settings, expand PlayerInfo (or TargetInfo for targets), select Buff Settings or Debuff Settings, and un-check "show buffs" (or "show debuffs").

12. How do I turn off these big huge bars that pulse whenever one of my abilities procs?
This isn't IceHUD - it's Blizzard's new Spell Alerts they added in 4.0.1. Interface options => Combat => "Show Spell Alerts" to turn them off or search for a mod to tweak their positioning/size/etc.

13. I don't like where some of the bars are placed. How do I put the health/mana on the left/right?
Type /icehud, expand Module Settings, expand whatever module you want to move (e.g. PlayerHealth, PlayerMana), and adjust the "Side" and "Offset" settings. "Side" controls whether it's on the left or the right and "Offset" controls how far from center it is.

14. Which module displays Monk Chi power?
This module is called HarmonyPower. Harmony was the original name for Chi back when 5.0 was in beta, so I used Blizzard's name for it while I was developing for Cataclysm. I feel like it's too late to change now that many people are familiar with the Harmony name.

- hid the "rotate 90 degrees" option on cast bars and eclipse bars since it just doesn't work very well and looks bad. users keep reporting that these are broken when rotating and since i don't have a good fix, i'm disabling the feature for now
- unified the behavior for configuration when a module is disabled. now the sub-configs (marker/text/icon settings) remain clickable but every element inside is disabled when the module is disabled. previously some sub-configs were not clickable at all and others were

- reduced cpu usage by 33%-50% across the board (and more in some cases) by changing how updates are registered and how often they run. now the 'update period' slider actually matters. it defaults to 0.033 meaning that frames update about 30 times a second instead of every frame
- fixed the "always" display mode for cooldown bars to respect alpha settings (ooc/with target/in combat/etc.)
- added level restrictions to shard and holy power class counters since players under 9/10 (different per bar, using constants provided by Blizzard) don't have those resources available yet
- finally (for reals, hopefully) fixed the gcd for all classes. gcd is a surprisingly difficult problem as there's no straightforward api for it

The events for mana/runic power/energy/etc. regen are no longer being fired and the client uses a more cpu-expensive method of updating the available amount of power. Mimicked this new method (which the default UI uses) in IceHUD.

It's IceHUD-1.8.18.1 I'm using. Got it again just now.
Okay, thanks for the report. I don't have an answer for you immediately as I've never encountered this before. When/how are you seeing it? Zoning? Logging in? Releasing a pet? etc.

I use the CleanCurves texture since I prefer it over the default. You may see if that helps your alignment at all.

I tried changing the default to CleanCurves a year or so back and got some angry feedback about the switch, so that's why ColorBar (or whatever) is still the default.

Depends on which module you're having trouble with. "Allow click targeting" should generally be the correct answer, but you may be seeing an interruption from a different module than the one you set the option on.

I'm not entirely certain what you mean by "align" or "group" in this context. Changing the "offset" of a bar will slot it into appropriate places such that the bars can be pushed together properly. I recommend messing with the settings under /icehud -> Positioning Settings. Tweaking the "Gap" here should help. Also check the /icehud -> Bar Settings. Tweaking the Bar Proportion and Bar Space will get you probably what you're looking for. Finally, make sure all individual bars have their horizontal/vertical offsets at 0 and everything should align perfectly. Check my screenshots on the addon info page and you can see how my bars slot next to each other nicely.

There is no bar for holy power, only the runes/icons that appear as you gain holy power. Those are in the HolyPower module. If you're talking about mana, that's the PlayerMana module.

Love the product. Glad to see it's still around. I do have a couple questions.

Is there a way to make the player information pass-through or at least pass through in combat? I tried unchecking Allow Click Targeting but that didn't do it.

I'm having with the aesthetics. Is there an easy way to group and align bars?

On my pally I need to move the Holy Power bar but can't find what it's listed as. Can you point me in the right direction?

That did work, but it's tracking the wrong aura/both auras again.

I'll explain my exact situation. I'm playing a Windwalker Monk, which uses the spell Tigereye Brew (ID: 125195) with stacks. You build up stacks of the brew over time (up to twenty). When you use the stacks you get an active buff with the same name (Tigereye Brew), with the ID of 116740. I have two bars and a counter set up. One bar is set to track the 125195 with Exact Match Only unchecked. The other bar tracks 116740 with Exact Match Only unchecked. However both bars track either buff at the same time.


Edit: Seemingly I've figured it out. Tracking the skill IDs and checking 'Exact match only' got the bars working as wanted.
