ArtPad   Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
ArtPad offers a shared drawing area for raids and parties. Everything that is drawn is instantly visible to the whole group. Vector based drawing makes it fast and memory friendly to use.

ArtPad is experimental software.

To use, install it, start WoW, and either type
/artpad show
or configure a key to show/hide/toggle in the key config menu.

Use left click to draw, right click to erase. Everyone in the same party or raid automatically sees the same drawing.

The window can be moved with Shift-Click.
In raids, you only see what what leaders and yourself draw.

Planed:
- If a person joins late, the complete drawing can be sent
- Store and Load drawings - ...

The addon uses the addons channel provided by blizzard, it is bound to party/raid.

Just got the members in my 10man raid group to all get this addon, and its already hilariously fun.

Extra features

I posted an idea in the request section.

What would be nice is a dropdow menu to choose overhead floorplans of all boss area. Then call it up to draw positions and raid movement diagrams.

I am gonna give this a shot... sounds interesting.

-- pop that graphic onto the screen so that party members (who have the addon) can all see the graphic (instantly).

-- enable users to right-click the graphic so they can save it to their own hard disks to view later.

-- embed a 'sound file' like .mp3, .wav, .wma, etc. so that audio explanation can be heard while viewing the graphic(s).

These are just a few thoughts of mine.

It is not possible to read or write non-lua files from the hard-disk with an addon, nor to write them. Textures can't be read either, but the API can be used to let the Game load and display them. No saving or transfering over the network though.
Same for audio files.

The only thing that would be possible is to create a lua-based graphics format and use that for storage and transfer. I thought about that, but don't really have time.
Or displaying pre-shared maps (that already exist in each WoW install or in all addon versions.

There are no options. All the buttons that can be used are written on the background. You can change colors with the number keys. Saving and Loading is not implemented (and probably won't be either).

Bored one day I had a look at the code and made it use the ingame colorpicker. If you saw the dwarf I drew before here's another image

This may supplant Vent for strategy notes...imagine the fun a raid could have if a particularly noobish character DOESN'T have Artpad...Sketches of orcs with a "Boy am I dumb!" thought bubble over his head comes to mind....

I think I found the error... really embarassing... Will upload the fixed version tomorrow, after a bit of testing tonight.

/ap command

Nice addon. In case you didn't know your /ap command is shared by the popular autoprofit addon. While /artpad works, you may want to give some consideration to a slightly modified short options.
