Mapster   Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Mapster is a very simple world map enhacement addon, which was designed to work in conjunction with all other map addons out there. The idea to create Mapster originated from pure lack of a simplistic addon that only modifies the world map, without adding a full scale feature set.

Features
  • Map Style (Scale & Alpha)
  • Coordinates
  • Fog of War removal
  • Enhancement of the raid/party group icons

You can access the Mapster configuration menu through the new button on the world map, as shown in the screenshot.
All features (except the style) can be turned off individually if you do not need/want them.

If you're looking for a replacement to Cartographer, i also recommend the following addons:
  • Gathering -> GatherMate (Hosted on WoWAce -> Download)
  • Waypoints -> TomTom

I just discovered Mapster and I must say it's really the perfect alternative to Cartographer - I rather use TomTom and other specialized mods that the built-in ones. There are a few issues/question I have:

-The "Hide Map Button" option only seems to hide the Mapster button from the map, not the map button from the minimap.
-Group icons don't seem to behave like they should... Most of the time, it just shows a number on a white background, and the whole icon flashes with the class color, which is more annoying than useful. I'd like some options so that I can make them behave like the minimap icons, and then another option to add the numbers.

Addition Request

I sometimes like to scale down the size of the map, but often I can no longer see the arrow representing myself as it blends in with the map. Any chance we could have an option to change the default "person" arrow to another icon... perhaps an orange, yellow, or white dot?

If not, know of any mods that can casually perform this one function?

Mapster doesn't include waypoints functionality. You probably want TomTom for that, if you're looking to replace Cartographer_Waypoints.

I use HandyNotes & a variety of HandyNotes modules for that, it works great coupled with Mapster.

GroupIcons

Hey, I was just wondering if it would be possible to release the GroupIcons part of Mapster as a standalone addon, to work with other ones. I have grown really fond of it and I think it's much better than the crappy default map player indicators.

I really wish I could change the size of my player arrow on the "Battle Map" or whatever it's called...the map that's accessed by the default keybind of Shift-M...

My player arrow is SO hard to see on that thing...Anyone know of any addons that can do this? I love Mapster, but it only enlarges the player arrow on the world map. I also have Embiggen, but it only does what Mapster does now, which is enlarge the world map player arrow.

Mapster is rly great addon, simple and low memory usage. I just wonder would it be rly troublesome and memory increasing to add to show Flight paths and Mailboxes on map? If anwser is yes, than dont do it ;]

i changed from cartographer to mapster a couple of weeks ago and love it.

but since a few days the size of the map resets every opening of the map. cause i have the map about on 1/4 of the right-top side, the map (or most of it) goes out of screen. i looked around and didnt find anybody else with this problem. i only found a note in the changelog for 1.0.5 that a workaround for a reset of the size got implented.

i also cannot move the map at all anymore.

anybody knows how to fix that?

thx in advance!

Yeah I have the same problem. I have disabled all the map related mods besides Mapster, and the button still doesn't show up. Is there any other way to configure mapster?

thanks
