BadBoy: Anti Spam Automatic Reporter   Updated less than 3 days ago!   Popular!
BadBoy will actively scan your chat for possible spam, when found:

*Block, all spam that is found from appearing
*Report, the spamming player automatically

What sets this aside from other spam blockers?
BadBoy is made to be extremely light, simple, has no ingame options, and works automatically without asking the user.

But what if I want to know who I'm reporting?
Sure, ingame EXACTLY type:

Code:
/script BADBOY_POPUP = true
Now every time spam is blocked a popup will appear asking you to report the spammer. Use false to go back to automatic.

thanks for your reply, funkydude. I disabled SpamMeNot, as you suggested and haven't had a problem since. I also haven't been bugged by spam, so it looks like BadBoy is strong enough to stand alone!

Re: problem with whispers
merneith, BadBoy did not try to report your friend, it tried to report a real spammer, but that whisper was filtered, but didn't get reported because of a conflicting addon. This is completely not BadBoy's fault, but another addon for improperly messing with chat filters. I suggest you start disabling chat addons, starting with the two mentioned below. I'd start with SpamMeNot, I also heard from friends that WIM was the cause of their problem.

problem with whispers
Twice now I've received innocent whispers in game and somehow badboy treats them like spammers. Just the latest, I got a flimsy gnome mask in trick or treat and someone whispered me to say just say congrats. Badboy reported them and even though I got the text of the whisper, the name was blank so I couldn't reply.

Question before changing to this mod - does it only block the chat from appearing in the chat box or does it block the actual "say" spam from filling your screen when your standing next to Qeionalknewdl at the mailbox as well?

Had a chat mod that blocked all this but is no longer being developed - looking around hoping there is a stand-alone spam mod that does this.

I disagree; your post is... spam /yawn

BadBoy is no-nonsense. It does the job effectively in a transparent manner, providing minimal, informational output. Theres nothing spam-like about it.

No. People have asked in the past for it as a feature, I will not add it because I want people to be aware of who they are reporting.

I realize BadBoy is currently missing some of the latest spam the past few days, I've got it covered in the next (2.0) version currently in testing, should be out in a few days, just delaying it a bit. The new version includes the most solid database to date (possibly also the smallest?) and with an option to save manual reporting.
