Delsim's standard minimal UI   Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
THE QUARTZ /PLAYER/Player.lua HAS A CHANGED STRATA SETTING FROM THE REGULAR "MEDIUM" setting to the new "HIGH" value (so the player castbar isn't covered by the actionbar buttons). SO DON'T UPDATE QUARTZ MANUALLY UNLESS YOU CHANGE THIS YOURSELF.

This UI was created using 1440x900 widescreen resolution. Higher widescreen resolutions have been said to function fine though, with no additional configuration needed. Non-Widescreen resolutions have seemed to work well for some users before, however a few of the addons may need repositioning and font scaling will likely need to be adjusted for several addons because of the use of pixel fonts in this layout, which have strict sizing requirements in order to display them clearly.

This is a more forgiving version of my other minimal layout. It has everything my other, more trimmed layout version has, but with the addition of visible chatframes in the layout instead of the former hidden (minichat) frames. eePanels was used to create effective (yet not too overpowering) backdrop displays for these chatframes in order to make text consistently easy to read in any gameworld enviornment. To increase the target unitframe information a different unitframe texture appearance is being used for the frames. Also statusbar class coloring is now enabled for the target health bar, aswell as additional target name and information text.

Custom artwork is used for Pitbull's border.tga in the /aura/ folder, Fubar's background.tga, and simpleminimap /skins/ folder files. So if you update those addons manually, be sure to copy over the custom images used by this UI to any updated versions of those addons.

Refer to the included .txt file for full information and instructions.

======================================================
INSTALLATION STEPS:

1. Backup your current /WTF/, /Interface/, and (if you have one) /Fonts/ folders. Remove these from your WoW folder.

2. Delete your /Logs/, /Cache/, /Errors/ folders. You can back these up also, not really needed though. There should now only be a /Data/, /Screenshots/, and WowTest server folder if you happen to have the test server client that is.

3. Extract the folders from this .zip file into your World of Warcraft folder. If it prompts to overwrite something, this means you didn't remove one of first three folders mentioned above, make sure you do this and try again.

4. After you extract everything, open up the new /WTF/ folder in your game directory. Now open up the /Account/ folder inside.

5. Rename the folder/ACCOUNTNAME/ to whatever the name of your account is that you log onto the game with. Type this account name in all caps. Open up this folder afterwards.

6. Rename the folder /YOURREALM/ to the name of your realm that your character is on that you will be loading this interface with. Open this folder up afterwards.

7. Rename /PLAYERNAME/ to whatever your character's name is on the realm. If you have multiple characters you want to use the layout with, simply make additional copies of this folder and use them for any other characters you want to have inherit this configuration (of course setting the foldername to that character's name).

Afk from WoW

Btw for the last few months I've been addicted to Lord of the Rings Online. So I haven't been as reliable with updating my UI here as I once was, or as active in WoW anymore at all.

It's funny because I beta-tested Lord of the Rings Online almost 3 years ago and uninstalled it before getting to even level 5. I thought it was just a poor attempt at a WoW-clone at the time. But my friend got me to try it again with him a few months ago; promising it was far better than WoW once I atleast got to level 10. Well he was very correct as it turns out; and this game is absolutely incredible once you get into it and pass a certain level. I've already got almost two level 60's and a third character at level 30 almost now. The whole game is like WoW except with a (needed) graphics facelift, far more quests and solo & small-group potential at advancement, superior crafting skill system, quadruple the amount of character customization depth, and scope of endgame progression possibilities (legendary weapons that gain exp/skills for example).

I'll still update my WoW UI's, of course, once in a while. But obviously highly suggest Lord of the Rings Online to any WoW veteran's who feel burned out but can't think of anything better to play.

Here's an action clip of my level 27 Rune-Keeper doing an Orc quest in LotrO, if anybody wants some visual examples of the game to interest you

http://files.filefront.com/runekeepe.../fileinfo.html
(download for much higher resolution & quality obviously)

Wow, thanks a lot for the kind words and nicely in-depth explanation of your overall views of the interface - both positive and negative. I have rarely got even a single word of feedback back from any users of my interface - but never worried too much about that. But I must say, it's pretty nice hearing actual thought out feedback from a user - both the good and bad aspects in their opinion especially. Guess I was never used to hearing anything from others in the past, so hearing a lengthly summary of another players experience now just feels suprisingly helpful and great. Thanks!

First of all I'd just like to mention that you are an awesome UI designer and one of the people who inspired me to start on my own.

Anyway, when I first saw your UI I liked it. I never downloaded it though because at the time I did not know how to do it(Laugh away, I dare you ).

Months passed, UIs came and went, I made new ones every week.

Then I saw this one again and went: "Hmm, how can he still use that one?"
Not long after that I was looking through some PYUI threads and I saw your name pop up every now and then. I liked your UI, but I didn't think it was that good. (*Note, at this time I thought UIs were supposed to be good looking, not functional)

And don't get me wrong now - I love your UI now, but I thought it was mediocre at the time.

Needless to say, I was jealous of the fact that your UIs were so simple, but so popular.

Yesterday, I looked at your UI. Having learned more about functionality and simplicity, I was absolutely struck by it's beauty. It's a fantastic work of art in my opinion, and I am in love.

All this was a very looooong way of saying; Thank you.

Hmmm not sure why the custom skin isn't showing, the map looks deformed like that because it is using the custom minimap mask but appears to not be using the custom skin overlay. Try just installing a default Simpleminimap version, and simply use the default skins that come with that addon.

I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to move my health bar. Also, how would I change the name text? I read there's a readme in the download, but it doesn't explain near as much as I'd like. Thanks.
Type in /pitbull to open up the Pitbull unitframes configuration. Click on the 'Global Settings' options tree and there is a Lock/Unlock checkbox there that you can uncheck to unlock the frames so you can move them. Lock them again after you move them, to avoid unwanted frame dragging during combat or whatever.
