Deadly Boss Mods  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)
Version: 5.4.5a-r10831
by: Mave99, MysticalOS, Tandanu
Alpha builds from the SVN are always available on dev.deadlybossmods.com.

Check dev.deadlybossmods.com for the latest version and news!

Features:
  • Boss mods for all raid bosses
  • Colored raid warnings (players will be colored according to their class) with icons - so you will know what's going on without even reading the message
  • Auto-respond during boss fights. DBM will inform anyone who whispers you during a boss fight that you are busy. These messages contain the name and health of the boss as well as the raid's status
  • HealthFrame: you can enable a simple frame that shows a health bar for all active bosses. This is enabled by default for multi-mob bosses like Four Horsemen
  • Bars can be enlarged with decent effects when they are about to expire
  • Crash recovery: you had a disconnect or crash during a boss fight? No problem for DBM! It will request the timer and combat status information from other DBM users in your raid group and you get your timers back
  • Synchronization system for accurate timers
  • No dependencies, no embedded libraries (except for the optional LibDataBroker plugin that embeds LibDataBroker)
  • Modular design - all boss mods are plugins and can be exchanged, removed or updated separately
  • Load on demand - all boss mods are separate AddOns and they will be loaded when they are needed. So they don't use memory or cpu until you enter the corresponding instance
  • Efficient code: DBM uses less than 250 kb memory and the cpu usage is also very low
  • Special effects like the screen flash effect, huge warning messages and sounds will draw your attention to critical events
  • Bars can change their color over time and flash before they expire
  • There are many bar designs to choose from, all designs are are customizable: you can change the color, size, icon position etc.
  • Support for SharedMedia, so you can use any texture for your bars
  • Option to create custom timers, so-called "Pizza Timers" for your pizza or whatever you prefer to eat while raiding. You can also send those timers to your raid group
  • Powerful object-oriented API - you can use it to write your own boss mods!

Please notice that we can help you on a lot of Problems but we do not check every Forum so please report all problems, bugs or whatever you want to tell us to the DBM Crew at www.deadlybossmods.com. We got a very good and daily visited forum there to help you with our AddOn.

We are also allways happy to get feedback if we forgot to add a required feature, so please check out our website, click the forum and be a part the the great DBM Community!

Having a similar problem and can't figure out what the issue is.

I'm using the ColdDBM skin (which does not replace DBT-Template.xml in the DBM folder), and before the recent DBM update, my bars looked like this:

After the update, they look like this:

"Looking for Raid" spawned the development of "Raid Finder". Blizzards gave it the name "Raid Finder", but LFR had already taken hold. And because it was basically the same idea as "Looking for Raid" there was no real reason for a new abbreviation.

Good luck trying to force people to change after this long.

Warning bars and such

I have found (I am not certain when it happened) but when I do any raiding I am only getting the vocal raid announcements (usually in the form of a countdown). I do not have any of the bars with the countdown on them listed on the side of my screen then moving to the middle as the countdown approaches zero. I do have bars when I am prompted to join a raid or an instance group from LFG/LFR. I have looked in the settings and from the best I can tell all the correct check marks are in place. (I never ever change these settings so it is just the defaults, other then I did change the voices awhile back.) I don't raid or LFG a lot but I do it once a week or so. I would like to know what I need to do in order to get the warning bars back displaying things like Phase 2 or the next wave of w/e, etc.

Question on H. Lei Shen. I don't see the aoe Grip announce (playing my DK) and I could have sworn it used to be there. Was it removed? Can it be turned back on if I somehow broke it?

Also can we get a countdown for Ball Lightning in P2(and P3); will make it easier to discern from Bouncing Bolts and simpler to time Grip + Stun chain.

After wondering for quite some time how a function called Raid Finder that produces loot described as Raid Finder could be called LFR with such traction, I've finally figured it out. I whispered a friend who was in RF and got a reply from their DBM saying they were fighting a Looking For Raid boss.

There's no such thing.

Please fix so that the people who cannot think for themselves to determine how to abbreviate Raid Finder correctly will not be so easily misled.

Or is there any reference describing how to add an encounter to DBM?

Happened on: TOT, JiKun boss

Both exeptions happened in quick sucession of each other during the fight.
At a second pull later the exact same thing happened.

I keep getting this message in my chat window:

<Deadly Boss Mods> A new time-based raid event was created.

Sounds

I have noticed that the sound , female voiced "Warning" is not an option anymore for warnings/special warnings in the gui options. Is there any chance we could have this back.???

Question Kanrethad Ebonlocke

Would it be possible to add the Kanrethad Ebonlocke encounter?

The most important mechanisms would be chaos bolt and cataclysm, as well as curse of ultimate doom.

Ideally there would also be timers for the summoning of wild imps, felhunters and doomguards.

Or is there any reference describing how to add an encounter to DBM?

it's still there, and still used in same places it always was, in places you ACTUALLy run away.

following warnings will use run away sound

Orbs you have to run away from on jinrokh

Spirits you have to run away from on council

crimson wake you have to run away from on dark animus

things that do not get a run away sound are things you do NOT run away from. they just get a special warning sound, by design. if they played a run away sound when you aren't supposed to move for it, it might confuse players and cause wipes.

I have a major problem with the setup for this addon. Put simply, the default settings seem to be optimized for a narcoleptic 5-year-old with ADD. Example: I go into Darkmoon Faire and play the Whack-a-Gnoll game. The addon screams at me, flashes the screen red, and posts a big message across the middle of my screen every time Hogger spawns. This is about once every two seconds.

As a tank, I need to be aware of what is actually occurring in a boss fight. This means I need to go through and individually disable about 75% of the various boss announcements for every fight on every character, so I can see how the raid is positioned, what the boss is doing, etc.

I since gave up on that and now just disable every part of the mod except the timer. Annoyingly, I am unable to disable the boss health frames, which are redundant since I have a much nicer version that's actually integrated with my unit frames (SUF). I have dragged these to the very corner of my screen, mostly off it, so I don't accidentally click on them.

I get it. The new, casual player benefits the most from the settings it comes with, and that's who this addon is designed for. But could you please acknowledge that there are players who don't want to be yelled at by the Big Bad Wolf every time the boss's Ultimate Move Of Really Obviousness comes off cooldown, when it starts casting, when it finishes casting, when it's interrupted, and when he's making his mid-afternoon tea?

Additionally, I'd like to be able to copy profiles from other characters, so I don't have to disable everything for each character individually.

When I go into the addons menu in the character screen, and disable World Events or whatever, it automatically loads it up again whenever I enter the instance!

I. Am. Aware. That. Hogger. Has. Spawned.
Agree. I gave up DBM for it's excessive cosmetics. The only thing I really want from it is the Range Radar. My sugestion/request is that you guys release separate modules for timers/soundpack/bg/range radar/etc...
