WoW Scribe
This addon allows you to log the chat channels that you decide to log, not all chat channels that you are monitoring. So you may log guild, says & emotes but not the side chatter in party, tells, or the General Channel... or any combination that you wish.

Serious issues with Party Leader

TLDR: Get this addon from curse, the version here is oudated and no longer works properly.

I've added party leader to my logging option. When I do a /wscribe Status it says CHAT_MSG_PARTYLEADER (as well as all the other things that I'm currently logging). Every other log function is working properly, but party leader refuses to log.

Actually, it refuses to log consistently. This evening I had about two hours of chat I wanted to keep a log of, and I was in a party. I checked the status before we started to make sure. Of the entire evening, it logged /one line/ of the Party Leader's chat, but successfully logged everything else that happened - including about 400 messages from some nitwit making frostweave bandages.

This release is bugged and outdated, not compatible with 3.3, and should not be trusted, particularly for any kind of recording of party chat.

I had the same problem with it at first, but managed to get it sorted out. I've gotten literally dozens of people (all roleplayers on my server) to start using this addon, and everyone loves it.

...as an aside, it's kinda sad that it seems like it's been abandoned. Still works just as expected, though, which is a plus. I really would've like to have seen something to not have the join and leave channel messages show up in the log. Never did figure out how to fix that, or if it's fixable at all.

The only other thing I would have loved to see would be a compatibility fix with Environment Emotes and Pet Emotes addons (both). Unfortunately, while making everything look great on your screen, neither show up in the chat log if you use them. I'd been very excited when I found both. Damn shame.

*hoping to see this continued and/or updated soon!*
It's not abandoned, so much as it still works and I hadn't found anything I neededto add to it. Maybe adding a toggle for join/leave messages would be a good update. I'd have to look at the other 2 addons to see what I may be able to change to work with them.

As for tells, it +should+ work, but I haven't tested that recently, so I don't remember.

I've tested it with tells now, and yes it works great if you command /wscribe add whisper. The only other problem I have come across is that it seems to be logging things other than what I've told it to. For example, if someone is crafting nearby, it will log "Soandso has created ___" umpteen times, and also when you've killed something. I use FlagRSP for my roleplaying addon and no matter what I've tried, it has also been spamming the xtensiontooltip channel. On a server like Moon Guard with literally hundreds of people with their RSPs up, I've ended up with files all the way up to 20 MB...just in one day. Is there any way to get it to just log the things I've told it to, and not the muted channels too?

Thumbs down Awesome addon!

A couple of friends and I were looking for just such a program for logging our roleplays on Moon Guard. Excellent work and so very easily used, IMO! I made a simple macro for starting and stopping the log feature, and so far it seems to work great!

Only a couple of questions though...can this addon also log tells? I know that it can log any channel and I've tested them, but not sure if tells would count as a channel or not. Also I am wondering how long you can run this program. Is there a set amount of space that can be used to log your chats, or will it just keep going?

All in all, awesome little program, item was exactly as described, would buy again! <3

Where does the log go, then?

EDIT: I mean, does it just stay ingame, usable till next reloadui/logout, or can it be stored outside game, for guildforums purposes or such?
