 Why do we have to load ALL Addons up front???

Is there ANY way to get the program to startup and *NOT* load all the Addons up front? 9 times out of 10, all I want to do is edit *ONE* of my addons. I could care less about the rest of my addons.
I may have seen a tutorial on how to do this (load up wowuides w/out preloading all the addons) but I can't find the link a...
