 Manual Override of options

Is there a way to override the Record Scan check box?
I plan to leave my machine up and have my wife jump from time to time and scan about every hour, but trying to get her to do more then press the space bar and click once gets difficult ;)
With the check box perma marked that would alleviate a huge step for her.
