Windows Close Automatically?

I'm having an issue getting two windows to stay open at the same time... i.e. Macro and Spellbook. This makes it impossible to Shift-Click and link a spell to the macro frame. It also makes it inconvenient, at best, to get items reforged. I have to remove the item from my toon and place it in my bag before I can get it reforged....
