Combat log not staying in info panel
 

I was using another UI and recently switched back to nui.

The other ui moved and changed the combat log. I did a reset chat to get the original combat log back.

The problem I'm having is that the combat log does not seem to always stay in the left side info panel. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesnt. I havent been able to figure out a pattern for it yet either. When it moves from the panel it slides upwards to about the height of the bag bar.

I'm wondering is there a slash command to anchor it to the info panel? Or maybe some other way to get it to stay in place?

I"m surprised it ever shows up in the left info panel after a '/nui rl' or logging in. nUI puts it in the right hand panel, always.

what "left side info panel"? You mean where the chat window goes? nUI by default moves the combat log to the info panel on the right side. AFAIK, there's no way to change that without editing something in one of the lua files.

Try disabling nUI, docking the combat log with the general chat window (so the window has two tabs at the top), and then re-enabling nUI. If that doesn't work, you should probably do a clean install of nUI, at least (log out of wow, delete the nUI related savedVariables files, delete the add-on, and then reinstall it and log back in to wow).

OOps...I guess I washed the "L" and the "R" off my hands :p


I meant the right side. It wont stay in the panel on the right side.

THat would suggest you have another mod installed that's messing with it. Can you try disabling everything except nUI and see if it "stays" put?

ok, I've had a chance to spend some time on this.

Apparently the problem was that I didnt reset the chat windows until after I had already loaded nui. Even doing a /nui rl wouldnt keep them in place.

So I deleted the holy trinity files and then reset the chat on my characters then added nui and they havent moved once since. I added the rest of my addons and they still havent moved.

I do have one additional question now though.

Is the combat log supposed to reset the settings every time you login? I added a few things I wanted the combat log to show but every time I login its reset to default. The general tab works fine.

It shouldn't reset -- no.

That's correct Scott. However, since 4.3 it could be a similar issue to the Mature Language Filter defaulting to on.
