5.03.02 Tainting

Tainting seems worse. So whatever you did, reverse it :-)

The prior version to this one was fine. There was a taint fix or something you did which really helped. Everything went well until this release. Here are the details of what I saw tonight.

10 Man Naxx. run.

Everything goes fine but after about an hour the tainting gets really bad during pulls. Stays bad until the pull is dead and returns to normal FPS.

Exit WoW and start it back up.

Good for another hour or so and starts happening again.

Wash, rinse, repeat.

Can't fix it if you don't show the taint log. ;)

I just did 10 man ulduar .. granted just the first boss and an attempt at razorscale but I didn't notice anything different. Hmm unless there was another update since last night - rofl

FWIW -- If you start having issues, you shouldn't need to exit WoW and return to fix them. '/nui rl' is effectively the same from the perspective of an addon. I have yet to have seen any taint since the fix a few versions back, but I'll look into it and see if I can reproduce it.

Thanks spiel. And to Silenia comment. If such a log exists I would be happy to post it next time. Just point me in the right direction.

If you're using a bug tracking program like Swatter or BugSack, you can configure them to record taint errors. Otherwise, the command '/console taintLog 1' will enable taint logging in WoW. When you log out or reload your console, WoW will write a file in the "logs" subdirectory of your WoW install path with the name "taint.log" or "taintlog.txt" (I can't remember which)

Once you have done this you can turn off logging by entering the following into chat "/console taintLog 0".

You'll only get the "blocked" messages in combat, so the easiest way to test this is to go to a low level zone and let a weak creature attack you while you do things involving targeting, group changes, pet changes, etc.

Remember, taint by itself is fine, it only becomes a problem if it results in a "blocked" message.

I figured his explanation would be easier to read than mine hehe ;)

If relogging corrects the problem temporarily, but '/nui rl' does not, the problem is possibly a network issue. Where reloading the UI should fix any garbage/loops/etc, issues in the running program, a full relog will get you a new connection to the blizzard server. It is possible you are having network issue where your connection to the blizz server is degrading over time affecting performance. Increased packet loss etc will degrade performance as well. What type of latency are you experiencing when this is happening?
